SOLD Custom .40 Fullstock Flintlock Rifle

Interesting rear sight, drilled down like that. Same as the sight on the percussion rifle you have for sale. Are they from the same maker maybe?

CLOSED Numrich Arms Hopkins and Allen under hammer trigger and pins

Pecatonica River (http://longrifles-pr.com/underhammer.shtml) has an underhammer kit similar to the H&R, you might call them. Otherwise try Deer Creek (https://www.deercreekproducts.net/). Call them up, they don't seem to answer email requests for what they have stashed away.

    Did you all see this?

Hey, maybe it was a Colt or Remington revolver! Those are considered muzzle loaders too.... Just saying.

    A muzzle loading assault rifle

My folks were POWs in Indonesia (then the Dutch East Indies), somehow ended up in a camp for families where I was born during WW2. Dad had been teaching in the medical school when the Japanese invaded, and they put him to work with a Japanese professor, trying to restore some of the scientific...

What kind of stuff do you all read?

$8.00 + $4.50 shipping: https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=9559949962&searchurl=sortby%3D17%26tn%3D%2522The%2BOld%2BNorth%2BWest%2522&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-title4 But, the OP said what he read was from 1930 so I'm not sure this is the same book.

Also, I don't see a price listed, but that may just be me. I saw it now, $1800. Sorry for the confusion!

    barrel reboring

It was pre-Covid, but Bobby Hoyt bored & rifled a couple of barrels for me at IIRC, $135 each. One he did he was going to freshen, but the rifling was a left hand twist and he couldn't do that so bored it out from .50 to .54. That was a T-C Pennsylvania Hunter with the reverse twist. ~Kees~

    Bore Seasoning

First I heard about "seasoning" a bore with Bore Butter was in an article by (I believe) Sam Fadala around 2000. It was in a muzzle loader hunting magazine which I forgot the name of and it hasn't been printed in many years. Dang, this getting old is the pits! I can't remember anything...

    CVA Kentucky trigger

The flint should be 1/16" or so away from the face of the frizzen. You may need to cut a hole in the leather to it can push back around the screw. Some folks advocate nibbling a notch out of the back of the flint to clear the screw also. Having the bevel up will move the cutting edge of the...

    CVA

I shoot a modified CVA Mountain Rifle with the original lock and have no problems with it. Eric Bye, in his book on flintlocks says that he has not had any issues with the CVA locks, despite what others say. The crack can be fixed with thinned super glue. You should be able to get what you...

Shooting Patches - Best Scrap Materials?

Make sure it's 100% cotton. I get pillow ticking at JoAnn's myself for shooting patches, and flannel for cleaning patches. I cut them into 1 1/2" strips, then for shooting I cut at the muzzle while for cleaning I cut 1 1/2" patches. A couple of yards of each will last a l-o-n-g time.

    Lyman Clean Out Screw size

Bring your lock with you and try screws until you get the right one. They should be metric unless someone changed it out, but you know that already.

*UPDATE* Traditions Deerhunter - Brown residue in the barrel?

I have brown gunk come out the day after cleaning my rifles. I'm sure it isn't rust, but have no idea what causes it. That is on all of my BP guns, even the one which gets used the most and is around 13 years old. Well, the barrel is; I had a Colerain barrel installed back then.

    Buggered screw purpose?

    But it doesn't have a SCREW! 😁 ( a screw in liner doesn't count.) ~Kees~

    Slow ignition

Call Kibler and talk to them before doing anything else. I would run a drill through the touch hole, just held in my fingers to see if there is a small obstruction in it. I drilled out mine to 1/16" on the various flintlocks I have had. Also, make sure that it is centered in the pan and even...

    Public Apology

Precisely what I would do first. If they won't fix it they may have someone who can. Rebarreling shouldn't be that big of a deal. ~Kees~
