I'm use the powder in the horn for priming. Right now it is 2Fg and I see no difference between it and when I used 4Fg. It makes a little less to carry (priming horn), plus if it is humid the 4Fg will collect moisture from the air which the courser powder does much less. ~WH~

Y'all be ready for a whole lot of stupid questions!

What I use, taken from the old (and no more) Muzzle Loader Mailing List: I don't have a whole lot of tools for the flinters. The above notched nail knapping tool, a paper clip for vent pick and of course a belt knife which funtions for cutting patches at the muzzle, seating the ball with the...

SOLD "Large" barreled Percussion muzzleloader $500

So what is it across the flats? I had a 15/16" barrel bored out to .54; looks like that could be done with this one also.

    SOLD Lyman GPR, .54 cal.

That would be sweet! 07, I have no bore light and have not been able to get photos of the inside of the barrel. The "QLA" was bored deep. I can feel the rifling start with a cleaning rod, about 1 1/4" down from the muzzle. The rifling feels good; a cleaning patch slides down without my...

    SOLD Lyman GPR, .54 cal.

It has the standard Lyman rate of twist of 1 turn in 60".

SOLD Hudson Bay 6 point blanket

I'm seeing new ones going for close to $700 so you look to be in a fair range. They have gone up in price a lot though; I bought a 4 point for my wife 5 years ago and paid $350; now they want $550 for them. Hang in there, someone will surely buy this! ~WH~

    SOLD Lyman GPR, .54 cal.

.54 Cal. LYMAN GPR Picked this up when my wife asked me “what happened to that pretty rifle you had on the wall?” The only one I could think of was a Lyman which I had sold so I got this one. However, “that’s not the one I meant,” means I can sell it and try to find another T-C Pennsylvania...

Great Great Grandads rifle makes meat.

That's a great story, and a nice buck. Do you have more photos of the rifle? I would really like to see the side plate and forearm cap, if possible. ~WH~

Green River Forge NW trade gun

It could be a replacement lock, if the original had problems.

    Serial Number Dating a T/C

I have heard from several people who sent their older T-C rifles in for warranty work after S&W took over (remember the lifetime warranty). They were sent checks for the original price of the guns and their rifles were GONE! So beware out there....

    T/C Hawken in .45

Bobby Hoyt recently did one for me, a Pennsylvania Hunter with 15/16 to round barrel, from .50 to .54. So yes, it can be done. I pulled the breech plug to inspect the powder chamber, it was shiny bright, and there was fresh anti-sieze on the threads so he had removed it at some time during the...

How do I secure the ramrod in my T/C hawken?

I've fixed this problem before by gluing a piece of thin leather inside the ramrod channel. You may need to skive the front of the leather so the RR slides in easier, and you may have to add some leather to the sides of the channel also.

    T/C rear sight

And mine came from Track of the Wolf, with the 3/8" dovetail filed off and a hole bored through like Grimord said. I must say that I like CTShooter's better at this point!

    T/C rear sight

What I put on a T-C Pennsylvania Hunter. Drilled a hole for the screw and it worked fine. Windage can be adjusted to a point by turning the sight a tad bit left or right.

    T/C questions

It also looks like the old jaws angle up a tad compared to the new jaws. If so, the flints with the new **** might still contact the frizzen in the same spot as the old, but will scrape the face of the frizzen more efficiently. Incidentally, I think the original post meant that the frizzen...

54 cal. flinter barrel in 15/16"

Track of the Wolf has everything needed to make a replacement barrel. Since T-C uses a patent breech, i.e. the touch hole is in the breechplug, you can use any of the barrels they sell, not only Green Mountain. For a fee they will put it all together. Ask them for a quote, I think it will run...

    Lyman GPR

Crowhop, You might consider getting the GPR already made up, and then customizing it to your tastes. I did that with mine, refinished it, took out some of the curve on the butt plate, added captive wedges, lapped the bore and coned the muzzle. I may just have to go burn some powder this...
