    58 smothbore loads

I’m getting an older north star west gun in .58 . I was wanting to know what load to shoot in it. Ball, patch size powder charge. Also what size wad for shot and what would be a maximum load for shot. I’ve messed with .62’s but this is my first.58 .

Cards instead of wads for revolvers

I use wads in my 44 and cards in my 36. I wasn’t getting good accuracy with with wads in my 36 so switched to the fiber cards that Buffalo Arms sales. I use the same method that Jarod from Longhunters uses. I don’t know how to post a link but if you go to u tube and do a search for longhunter...

    SMR. 40 cal. Kibler

I’ve owned a Chamber’s York, and have handled a Kibler in .40. On first impression when shouldering both, the York felt great but the Kibler didn’t fit me as well, though I’m sure I could get use to it. I’ve even thought about ordering one in.36. I don’t believe you could go wrong with either...

Holding it together at 50 yards

Thanks for the reply’s. I’m going to take the advice given about attaching a temporary rear sight. I feel like I’m being consistent in my sight picture and hold, but maybe I’m not. I did put it on the bench today and adjusted the powder charge. I shot between 65 to 110 grain loads. When I got to...

Holding it together at 50 yards

For those of you who know how to shoot a smooth bore with no rear sight. I’m having problems with getting good groups at 50 yards. At 25 I can shoot under a 2 inch group fairly consistently. When I move to 50 the best I’ve done is 8 inches and it’s usually larger. I’m shooting a .62 caliber with...

    SOLD Pedersoli Lepage .44

Yes it has the adjustable trigger. I can't remember how the rear sight is set up, I'm not home to look at it. It shoots dead on for me at 25 yards. I took first place with this gun at our local club match last year. It's a target gun for sure. As for the caps I use rws or cci no. 11

    Loading revolver

I’ve found the best way to load for me in my .44 is to use a felt wad, lubed in 50/50 beeswax and olive oil between the powder and ball. This keeps the barrel very clean. I know I’ve shot over 80 rounds before and never had to clean between reloading. I get my felt from durofelt.com. In my .36...

    SOLD Lyman Uberti 1858 navy

This is what it looks like beside a full size Uberti. The frame is a bit smaller. The modern Uberti .36 is built on the same frame as the .44. Which to my understanding is not how the originals were built.
