"Sort of" period looking scope options

I will jump in with my experience here. In the early 1970's I was really into the NMLRA buffalo matches. I was doing well with my 10 1/2 pound offhand rifle but wanted a rifle that went up to the 14 pound limit with a longer barrel. I had Hoppy Hopkins cut me a 1 1/8" barrel with a false...

    Lee bullet mold question

Clint, I am going to jump in here. I have been casting bullets, round balls and Minie balls since the early 1960's. I first started using Lee molds in the early 1970's. All of them work well if you learn how to use them. By that I mean round balls are easy to cast and don't require any...

SOLD SOLD Ed Rayl 31 Caliber Swamped barrel (flint)

The barrel appears to be swamped. What are the breech and muzzle dimensions across the flats?

    SOLD Flintlock Belt Pistol

I believe that is a Russ Hamm lock. I used a couple of them back in the early 1970's. They were inexpensive but worked OK.

    SPLIT THE BALL TARGET QUESTION

When I was running matches years ago I used a cut section of log. I used a double bit axe slammed into the middle of it. Then I used two ten penny nails driven into the log a few inches either side of the axe. The clay pigeon was then rested on the nail and against the axe bit. Simple.

Best Caliber for Targets, 100 Yards & Less

At Friendship NMLRA National matches you will find .50 & .54 dominant in the bench rest matches. For offhand shooting I prefer .40 cal out to 100 yds. and yes, you have to dope the wind.

    Underhammer Buggy Rifle

Mike, Nice job. I also have a fascination with bottom slammers. I bought my wife a H&A underhammer in 36 cal in the early 1970"s. It was the short barreled buggy rifle. It used a .345 ball with a 0.014 patch and if I recall correctly 22 gr of powder. That was a sweet shooting little rifle...

    Range Shooting Box

I built this clam shell design out of walnut and 1/8" birch ply. It works quite well for my use. I have different base pieces for different pistols that I use. The pistol shown here I built for competition. It easily changes from flint to percussion. I think for any design you want to...
