    Tinning Brass

I have a couple brass buckets. We use them to boil water for camp mostly. It would be nice to tin one for cooking. I am unfamiliar with ammonium chloride. Can you tell me what exactly it’s is and what to buy? I may try this myself. Oh, and where is a good supplier for tin?

FOR SALE Free!!! Old reprint Starr arms pamphlet!

If this hasn’t been taken yet, I would love to have it for my friend. He is from Yonkers and we picked out an original Starr carbine at a show some years back. He hangs it over his fireplace.

Do You Actually Use Your Expensive Custom Guns or Keep Them as Safe Queens?

I have had several custom muzzleloading pieces over the years as well as various production moderns. Every one was a shooter/ user/ hunter.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

The 250th anniversary of “ the **** heard round the world” is in April of 2025. That’s a few short months away. I hope Jim Kibler puts out an accurate Brown Bess kit.

    Honey maple stain

If the stain is alcohol based, you can wet a rag with some rubbing alcohol and wipe down the stock. It will pick up some of the color.

    Pedersoli Brown Bess ?’s

Exactly! That’s what I meant. Most people I know who reenact aren’t rich or well off by any means, I certainly am not. But a lot will scrimp n save to get good gear because hey love the hobby of living history. I would put myself in that category.

    Homemade lube

Beeswax and olive oil works very well. Vary the proportions to get a thick or thinner consistency. Simple. Not expensive.

    Pedersoli Brown Bess ?’s

If Jim Kibler can put out a Bess kit in the price range that he has on his 4 previous offerings, I think it would sell very well. I have had the India bess( junk) Miroku Bess and the Pedersoli, I would probably trade all three for something Jim would offer. A land pattern with wood rod or metal...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I went to visit my friend who is a flintlock builder. He is making a piece for me and I asked him to teach me. Under his instruction we laid out the touch hole location and then draw filed the barrel to smooth where it’s ready for sights and bluing.

    Whom Used a Frizzen Stall?

I use one now. One thing I will say, is that no amount of experience can be counted on to prevent an accident. So…there are two categories, those who have experienced and accidental discharge, and those that will. Believing anything else is foolish.

    Kibler Gap Question

What Freedom said is a good idea. I have done it on mine. File a bit ( very little) off the rear of the tang. Will prevent the wood behind it from chipping out.
