    Hi Elk, personally I never use the included ramrod for cleaning. A lot of us don't. Too likely to get stuck or broken. I always use a range rod for that. The original ramrod I only use to load in the field... Just my 2 cents...

    I shoot a .490 ball with .015 pillow ticking patch, water or spit lube work fine. I don't have to beat the ball down the barrel, either.

    Your best bet is to post some up close, good pictures of the gun. Lock markings, inside and out if possible, any cartouches or stamps in the stock and barrel markings are all clues.
