New guy looking for some tips

I think his formula must aim to load what can burn in the barrel involved. Overloading can just blast the fireworks down range. I have, based upon experience, loaded 60- 85 grains and experimented as I worked up the most accurate load for the rifle, according to the distance to target. My deer...

    Pecatonica River Supply turnaround time

Back in the frontier days Craftsmen gunsmiths often operated out of small shops but with great skill. You cannot rush skilled gunsmiths. No one wants a Rush Job where accuracy counts. I think that the same conditions apply today. Also, where you have mastery of a skill there will be a wait...

Why does smokeless powder peel open a muzzleloader like a banana?

When tradition points a certain way, follow it. The whole sport of muzzle-loading exists because certain folks like to honor the old ways and traditions that gave us our freedoms in days of yore. There will always be those who step off the edge of the Grand Canyon to test whether-or-not air...

    CVA Hawkens Questions

CVA is a solidly built gun. Today their Group produces the Bergara Brand Barrels. Take it out and shoot it. There are tons of posts on here that will help you expand your knowledge and skill with your rifle. Appears to me to be a common CVA Hawken. These were also offered in Black Chrome...

Lee molds, why I like them.

Very wise to have your own casting gear. And stock up on metal. Run a fan and do not inhale fumes.

Selling antique muzzleloader in Western NY. Do I need to go through a dealer? About how much should I be asking for? Gun details in thread.

New York and New Jersey are very Anti-2nd Amendment--Anti American. Do not take chances. These States believe that the Crooks should have the guns. In truth, the 2nd Amendment plainly outlaws all gun control. People tolerate the Controls, but by plain text of the Constitution the controls are...

    SHIPPED ???

FOB is common in general commercial shipping. The seller usually helps load it at the loading dock on your paid -for transport tractor trailer's deck or board. This ends the seller's obligation as to shipping. Usually used in heavier shipping bills.

    What do I have here?

Grenadier 1758 is likely correcto. Two or three makers in the South copied the Colt 1851 design--although they often had round barrels. The living expert on this, to my knowledge is Mike Bellevue (duelist 1954 on Youtube). I have a similar one imported by Navy Arms with brass frame. Very nice...

Greetings from North Florida. Florida is a great Muzzle loading state. You can support the muzzle loading season and our conservation by buying a State Muzzle loading permit for hunting. Walmart sells them for the State. Welcome.

    Progressive Rifling

The Remington New Model Army' (1858) came with progressive rifling in some series. The Pietta Shooters model featured it as well. Pedersoli has it in its fine Revolver version (at a steep price) I think that it would help a little with accuracy---but not as much as the skill of the shooter...
