Needing some answers to some questions

Luckily for me I went retro and drive a 1961 International Scout with two sets of gun racks mounted in rear. The travel top is 6 foot long so the rifle should fit well on that. But I do see how a 5 foot rifle would make things interesting to transport.

Thanks for the information about your experience and about the powder. Secondly Underhammer ? That's a thing ! That looks like it shouldn't be real but it is. I looked up some pictures online and that I definitely a weird concept but I get the idea of the keeping the flash away.

Is coning a barrel an easy task ? I've seen alot of rifles here on the forum with coned barrels.

I will ask my friend if he will let me do that with his rifle but I don't think he will. Still worth a shot though. I do have a bunch of 5'5" tunnel bars on the farm that weigh about 10-15bs each lol.

.62 I understand is akin to a 20 gauge right ? Just a round ball instead of the typical modern slug. I checked Graf and Sons earlier and it was all out of stock that is where I buy my .30 Army Brass from. I'll find it eventually though with enough determination.

I am definitely looking for either .40, .45 or .50. I can deer hunt with a minimum of .40 cal legally. I legally can buy powder online I just have to find it first as I'm having some trouble finding it in general I don't remember ever not seeing Black Powder in this low of quantities.

Needing some answers to some questions

The two rifles I found on gunbroker are Swamped A weight barrels one is a .40 and one is a .50 caliber rifle. Ive held and done some target shooting with a friend's Pedersoli Pennsylvania and that has a 42" barrel and that felt fine so a 46" should also fit me well I would think. I'm 6'3" and...

Yea I'm 6' 3" with long arms, kinda built like a squatch. I've held and fired at a target to somewhat good effect a friends Pedersoli Pennsylvania and that has a 42" barrel so 4 extra inches shouldn't be the end of the world right ? How does one measure their length of pull ?

Yea I found a .40, .45 and .50 caliber rifle all of around 46" barrel length on Gunbroker. Definitely going to do some more looking though especially as I have been recommended an 18th Century fair in Frederick, MD that will happen in about a month.

Needing some answers to some questions

I joined this forum yesterday after stumbling upon it during a Google search. I've been floating around reading threads and well I believe it's time that I ask some questions and find some answers, possibly gaining a little knowledge along the way. That being said here are my questions. 1). I...

Helped a new muzzleloader get started yesterday

I just joined the forum yesterday. My father and grandfather both enjoyed Muzzleloader hunting when I was younger. My Great Grandfather did as well. My Great Grandfather had an old Maryland Militia Musket, my Grandfather had a .45 Thompson Center Seneca and my Father had a Renegade .50. I used...

I didn't even know there was a fair like this in Maryland. I definitely will have to check it out if I don't find a rifle by then.

I figured I would post this here just to give a heads up to forum members

I just joined the forum yesterday and have been just scrolling through and looking at the different posts. This one however is definitely a "FUBAR" situation in my book. I definitely wouldn't buy a muzzleloader off of someone I didn't know because I don't know what to look for in terms of...

I'm interested in Flintlock. I used to use my father's Thompson Center Seneca .45 Cal Flintlock and I like the Flintlock over a Percussion Cap. I am trying to look for a real long flintlock rifle.
