    WITHDRAWN Rifle

    How is the bore?

How to remover stuck touch hole liner?

For one that's truly stuck I'm not sure this would work. Mine is already slotted for a flathead and it won't budge.

How to remover stuck touch hole liner?

I also have a liner stuck on my recently acquired flintlock and have considered removing it. The only reason is I'm not sure if it's rusted or not. The bore is nice but there were spots of rust elsewhere on the rifle. If you end up removing it, please post an update with your methods and results.

WANTED Traditions .50 caliber Flintlock Tennessee Rifle

    Yes, someone already mentioned that.

WANTED Traditions .50 caliber Flintlock Tennessee Rifle

Yes, sort of a Kentucky carbine. There was one for sale here for a while. It sold back in December but the thread was still kicking around for a while.

    CLOSED left hand Thompson Center

I have a wanted ad for a rifle as well, and have had attempted scammers reach out to me three times. They presented some pretty convincing photoshops, too. I have to been active on gun forums buying and selling for over a decade and have never seen anything like this.

My First Flintlock - Dixie Gun Works Tennessee Mountain Rifle

I've seen the barrels turned down on older sporting rifles, and I think it looks great. Beautiful riflr you have there. I saw some literature from DGW that recommended 70 grains of 2f, a .490 ball, and 0.15 patch. I'm going to start there and see what happens. I'll keep your recipe in mind.

My First Flintlock - Dixie Gun Works Tennessee Mountain Rifle

I certainly noticed how easy it is to hold steady, and it shoulders nicely. I only hunt on about 20 acres, so I don't have to lug it long distances. Assuming it goes bang, it should be a great deer rifle for me.

My First Flintlock - Dixie Gun Works Tennessee Mountain Rifle

I like it too. It has some initials in a fancy script on it currently. I think I will polish that off and either leave it plain or add some new engraving of my own to it.

    Yea or nay

How's the bore? Questionable reliability or not, that is a pretty small amount of money for a flintlock based on what I've seen lately. Surely it's worth more than that in parts?

    Completed Woods runner fully dressed.

Beautiful. I especially like the work you di with the carving.

My First Flintlock - Dixie Gun Works Tennessee Mountain Rifle

I really like the set triggers on this gun. They seem on par with the ones on my Renegade. This thing is very muzzle heavy but I do fully intend to haul it up the tree stand. If it's too unwieldy that's just an excuse to buy another with a shorter barrel.

My First Flintlock - Dixie Gun Works Tennessee Mountain Rifle

For the past six years I have owned and hunted with a percussion T/C Renegade. I have had a blast shooting, hunting with, and maintaining it, so I decided I would like a flintlock. Having a great interest in early American history was also a big part of my decision, and my Renegade with a Lyman...

WANTED Traditions .50 caliber Flintlock Tennessee Rifle

Yes, the only issue being I'm sure the Kibler is significantly more expensive than a Traditions rifle which is safely within my budget.

Anyone else use the old Thompson Center Maxi Ball system bullets for hunting?

I hunt with a .50 caliber T/C Hawken with 90 grains of Pyrodex behind a 325 grain maxi-ball. It shoots great and has done the job well on several deer I've taken with that rifle. My bore is good and I haven't had any difficulty loading, even after just firing a shot. I don't cast my own, though...

    50 cal hunting bullet

Similarly, I also hunt with an early T/C Hawken (Renegade). I shoot 320 grain T/C pre-lubed Maxi-Balls with 90 grains of Hodgdon Pyrodex. That load shoots great out of my gun and I've easily recovered every whitetail on which I've made a halfway decent shot. Those bullets come in a variety of...

I don't have the skill to do that, and it sounds expensive.

WANTED Traditions .50 caliber Flintlock Tennessee Rifle

That rifle sold back in December but the thread has been bumped since then. I guess it doesn't help that the thread has not been changed to "sold".
