I haven't had any problems with the pins, they are a tight fit. I much rather remove the barrel to clean than risk damaging the stock. Best Ryan

Yes, agreed, as I think we pick up traits from our heritage. I love the old rifles, the history, the heritage in general. I to had many ancestors in the Civil War, around five hundred on each side. It sounds like you have quite the ancestry also. Best Ryan

I am in Redbluff, CA... we pretty much are limited to the big box stores, not many mom pop retailers. I will try to call around, because I find that most online vendors require a minimum order. One site was pushing 25lbs, believe me you, that would be great, but i can't afford that lol.. so I...

    Traditions Kentucky Flintlock help

I have actually heard of a similar technique, but they will submerge the barrel flash hole in a bucket of soapy water and pretty much use the rod as a hydraulic pump, pumping water into and out of the flash hole. I will give your technique a try, sounds much less messy 😉 Thank you for the...

Thank you for this, much appreciated... I found that the ball is 1.5 inches from the flash hole. So sounds like what you are describing as the patented breech. How does one clean the flash chamber, as I dont see a way to pass a swab though the barrel. Best Ryan

    Browning bluing or rust bluing

I just browned mine, using the plum brown from birch wood Casey. Its strait forward, and looks great, I love the finish, complements the stock perfectly. Durability, if you scratch a blueed finish rust could form, it may be noticeable. If you scratch a brown barrel, rust could form, but will...
