    Must set trigger before cocking

Adjust the spring tension down if you can and or remove the sharp edges. OR JUST SEND THE GUN TO ME!!!

    Must set trigger before cocking

Not sure on TC's but this can be caused by the sear striking the trigger which in turn is caused by the geometry between the trigger and sear being wrong. It can be fixed by dropping the trigger mechanism or filing the top of the trigger where it strikes the sear. Not something you rush to do...

Not liking my rust bluing turn out. Suggestion on alternative?

I would be inclined to try another coat if the existing finish is reasonably even. Maybe the alloy just needs a bit of prompting. Always sand and start again

    12 bore rifle twist rate

Sorry I dont have the knowledge on that one. Basically the twist required is related to the bullet length and the velocity. I believe the formula is hiding in Google somewhere. As @bubba.50 said 1:28 seems quick but a modern 12g slug rifled barrel has a 1:36". Reality is velocity is unlikely to...

    12 bore rifle twist rate

Whether they strip depends on more variables than you list so I doubt anyone would be able to answer. If the spin is too fast, the lands too shallow or the lead to soft then yes they will strip. On the other hand if the bullet (and potentially patch) and rifling match the powder charge you won't...

Examples of latter-day European / western matchlocks

Yes. Beware the one they call Rudyard!!!! I hear he eats young flintlocks for breakfast.
  16. LawrenceA

Would this flintlock fit on a CVA Kentucky pistol 45Cal.???

Failing that don't L&R do a replacement? Or for the more adventurous a Chambers Gunsmith lock

    First Build

I built mine in the Australian tropics. I went shorts and shoes (no shirt) and a fan. I could get a coupla hours or so before needing to stop drink and drip dry.

    Unknown rifle, possibly foreign.

To sum up what is above. It is not an American firearm. It is likely a Belgian Trade gun, with a walnut stock and no accommodation for a ramrod, that was probably owned by the ethnic minorities in the highland provinces of South East Asia and in particular Vietnam. Clearer photos of the lock and...
