TRS Baker Rifle kit - can anyone identify this part?

Part H is the fly sitting in the tumbler

TRS Baker Rifle kit - can anyone identify this part?

It looks like it could be the fly. How does it compare to the gap in the tumbler it is supposed to fit in?

I finally started my golden age Lancaster build.

I think what @dave_person and you are using the bedding compound for are quite different. You want it to re inforce and support the breach. Dave uses it to reinforce the flimsy forend and by using a very thin liquid it is essentially invisible but strengthens the forend significantly when set.

    My first kit gun

You are doing well But.. Take a look at how the patchbox flows with the lines of the stock. The originals point up to the lock and wrist. Might I suggest you look at how you have positioned yours as it looks a little straight. The best advice I can give is look at as many pictures of originals...

The Superstition Of Gifting A Knife, Is It Real?

New one on me as well. Don't like the idea of having to accept payment for a gift.

I finally started my golden age Lancaster build.

I learnt the hard way. I did not have the lock when I inlet the barrel and pinned it. You definitely need to do the Lock first.

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

So no loose patch? So no bulge. But a swell in the outside diameter of the barrel coupled with a choke on the inside

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

Can you feel a bulge on the inside? I think Britsmoothy is kinda right and it left the factory that way. Would suggest it was destined to be screw in chokes but didn't.

    Flintlock kits

There are basically no factory options. What are you after as I simply have more than I need and I know of a few around here not getting use. I really like my PH Musketoon. Light to carry and 58 cal. I have just about finished my York 50 cal. Thinking a Kibler or Chambers Fowler next. Here are...

True reason why double rifles require the barrels set to "cross" to shoot parallel.

Apparently the Maori ate all the Morri Orey to boot. But then they found some!

    Flintlock kits

Hi Pilgrim Where is here? I was in a similar situation last year and was able to import a Chambers Kit and went Chambers as they were more hands on than Kibler and had experience wih the export to Australia. Kibler were open to export but had not done so. No other supplier , including Dunlap...

True reason why double rifles require the barrels set to "cross" to shoot parallel.

Understand but is the slight movement back? And if so it will push against the shoulder that will pivot which in turn will cause the shoulder to move in an arch but with resistance. Further the barrel is unlikely to be pushing straight back and as such will also start to pivot. If the bullet is...

True reason why double rifles require the barrels set to "cross" to shoot parallel.

What you say makes sense and I see the experiment however I cannot read the article (old eyes). It makes sense that heat and or pressure would effectively stretch the side of the barrel that is thinnest effectively bending it. But I suspect that barrel time would play a part if the bullet is in...
