    Exactly! USPS has NEVER asked me what was in the package. They do ask a series of questions regarding safety. I answer these truthfully. Never a problem. Always be certain to package your item carefully and very sturdily. Don't axe, don't tail! ;) ...but do not lie either...

    NO! NO! NO!!!! :oops::oops::oops: Do not nitre blue anything that is tempered or is a load bearing element! Nitre bluing requires something like 750 degrees to do right. That will destroy a cylinder or frame. New guns that are "Nitre Blued" or "Charcoal Blued" are no better than the "Color...

    I don't know if a hotplate would put out enough heat. The solution has to get to 292° (going from memory here). Give it a try, and let us know if it works.

    FYI, you can make an excellent handgun, or other parts, bluing tank out of an old 50 caliber ammo can. You can rust blue, or better yet, hot oxide blue. Light years better than any cold "blue".
