    So..... why a muzzleloading?

While stationed at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station a friend , Mike Brosee, from Cincinnati brought back two original percussion muzzleloaders from home. This was in about 1971. He had a gunsmith get one of them to fire, and we shot it in a nearby swamp. I was hooked! I was transferred to...

    Finished Woodsrunner

Tough decision; however the Woodsrunner is an earlier style rifle and can fit in to more scenarios, if that matters to you. I am also a re-enactor so it does to me. I have two maple Colonials (one in .58 and a .54 I won from a Martin' s Station raffle). I also have a .54 cherry Woodsrunner on...

    Plain Maple Colonial is finished

The color brings out the wood grain and curl beautifully. Good job!

Ramrod won't go into the stock when tube is pinned?

Jim Kibler actually has a video on this. The ramrod must be tapered at the end that enters the stock.

    Making a Powder Horn: Scrimshaw

Beautiful scrimshaw; however pay attention to the type of butt plug you use. The time period and region of the plug should match the style of your scrimshaw.

    Is the Woodsrunner that easy?

Why not try some carving on one then?

Needs some advice on possibles bag

I only recently started to collect hunting bags and there are some great makers out there. I like Jeff Luke. Non are cheap; however. I made my own for years. Some have worn out over 40 years or so of use. Try looking in thrift shops for small, all leather, lady's purses. They can be modified and...

What does the lock look like?

    Finished Lancaster

Very nice work. My only comments would be to inlet the triggerguard a little more, and make your lock and sideplate panels smaller, i.e. trim the lock side closer to the lock and make the other side the same size in order to match it.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Lost an ;8 inch cherry pistol grip belt knife at Log Cabin Sport Shop today; sometime during our units shooting match! It was made by Ben Hoffman several years ago and is stamped with a "RAM" in the pewter bolster.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot at Log Cabin Sport Shop with my Andy Thomas made , Jim Kibler Colonial .54 cal. rifle. Rats, no pictures , but was a 8th Pennsylvania / Northwest Dept. B.A.R. event. Fired 5 shots at 25 yards. Got a 3 inch group low in the black. Fired one shot each at a 8 inch bull target at 50 yards all...

Building ME a NW Trade Gun ! :)

    So did I !

    The latest from Mike Gahagan.

This is a beautiful rifle, BUT...and this is where I may catch some flack. I don't understand, like or appreciate the incised carving in front of the patchbox on the original. To me it doesn't seem to belong or add to the overall beauty of the rifle. It seems awkward and contrived.

My Kibler Colonial is coming along...

This carving is well done, simple yet good looking. Great work.

I am Having a Scottish Musket Made

Beautiful firearm! I have a Kit Ravenshear English snaphaunce that Kit and I thought could be modified to work in a Scottish musket.

Building ME a NW Trade Gun ! :)

There's the thing. At some point it should be ALL black! Knowing when it is inlet properly and at the correct depth is part of the art.
