    Track of the Wolf

This is why I always pick my flints out in person at Log Cabin Sport Shop or at an event. I too like the flatter flints because there is more room for the leather or lead with more of the jaw screw holding everything solidly.

    Kibler kits lead time?

That's how I got my fowler, and exactly what I wanted.

    Bedford County rifle finished.

I agree; however the Bedford percussion **** or hammer is unique. It is probably the only percussion rifle that I like.

    A young Powder Horn Maker

Wow! That's a great horn especially for the first one. The shape is fantastic and represents a lot of work. Great job!

    How old are ya?

First shot an original muzzleloader in 1970 in the swamps of NC with a fellow Marine. Bought a gun in Camp Pendleton in 1972. Bought my first kit from Golden Age Arms. My second kit (Miroku British musket) in 1974 from Log Cabin Sport Shop. My most recent kits (Colonial, Woodsrunner , and...

    Ramrod End for Fowler

Very nice. This also what I am going to do, only in black cow horn from Powderhorns and More. I'm also adding a brass nose band.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

Most reenactors wouldn't recognize the difference and wouldn't care as long they could acquire an accurate model at a reasonable price. An earlier model that covers F&I as well as the AWI would sell better. As an old reenactor who started in 1974, I have owned a Miroku, that I built from a kit...

    Kibler Brown Bess?

I have a long land model marked "Cookes 1729" made by Jim Everett and I use it for all periods of 18th Century reenacting. I also own an original musket marked "Grice 175?" with a "pointed" brass side plate that I would like to know more about. Phil Craevner restored it for me.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

The long land pattern would cover the 1750s through the end of the century.

    Poor man’s guns

And some do gooder complained about the sign that said " ***** Mountain" on I 68 and it was removed! People do not bother to investigate local history before "going off" on the locals. My ancestors the Lynn's were part of the group. Lee(?) Teter did a painting of it years ago. The frontiersman...

    Kibler Fowler vs Trade Gun

I have to agree. Surface mounting the butt plate and the trigger guard on an English Indian trade gun is the easy part. Inletting the octagon to round barrel after soldering on the barrel lugs and front sight takes some time. The other inletting and stock finishing of course would be the same...

    Kibler Fowler vs Trade Gun

Actually in Jim Kibler 's video he said that of the two gauges he sells the 20 gauge is better suited for firing round ball because of the wall thickness. In fact he noted that fowlers could and had been loaded with all sorts of objects (stones, smashed lead balls, etc.) depending upon how...

    Woodsrunner Question?

I agree; however even the 18th & 19th century gunsmiths had some carvings that I didn't like. Those either didn't adhere to the Golden Mean or either did not follow the dictates of the Baroque or Rocco art forms. I actually like the simpler carvings or the folk art ones.

    B grade Kiblers

It depends upon what the defect is. My cherry stocked fowler had "sap stains" on the left side by the buttplate, but the grain is beautiful and runs through the wrist. It was discounted $50, but the added benefit was that I skipped to the head of the line!

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Wish I hadn't sold mine. I used it during the Bicentennial, it didn't seem to be right for F&I reenacting. It shot live ball accurately as well. I bartered to have a British long land pattern made for me instead.

For the Want of a Wire Coat Hanger

Wire coat hangers have so many uses besides retrieving bore brushes. I had to pull the breach plug on a pistol once because of a stuck copper wire bore brush. Haven't used a wire brush since! Where would our horners be without wire coat hangers to measure cow horn cavities?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I picked up my Jim Kibler fowler fast ship kit! Cherry stock in 16 gauge.

If you are going to be stupid, you gotta be tough

I would add a brass nose band for extra strength.
