    Reboring a rusty barrel

Just found a nearby shop that can do the job for me. This rifle won't see very much use by me. I would just like to fix the rifle properly so I won't have to worry about the rust coming back. Thanks very much for the feedback........labrat

    Reboring a rusty barrel

I have a Pedisoli 50 cal rifle with a badly pitted barrel. The rifle is in good shape and I would like to fix it. A friend suggested to have the barrel bored out to be a smooth bore, 54 cal. which I wouldn't mind having. My question is would I need to send it to someone knowledgeable in...

    About your hunting rifles

Frankenstein rifle looks like a real work horse beater. I like the brass mussel cap. Great job and is a fine rifle to me. My initial thoughts were that I would see more beaters like this for hunting. Big surprise to me that all these rifles shown are truly works of art and worthy to be...

    About your hunting rifles

Freedom.......That's a huge elk and a powerful load. I assembled a 54 Colonial for myself and it's a solid rifle for sure. I'm glade it can handle those large loads.

    About your hunting rifles

olskool...do you use round ball or the more modern cone shape lead. What is the average distance for a deer shot? stubshaft...very nice rifles & looks well taken care of. Are some rifle builders, old school vs. new schools, better for hunting rifles?.......labrat

    About your hunting rifles

I'm no hunter. So curious about what your flintlock hunting rifle really looks like. There are a lot of beautiful rifles shown but very little on the working rifle. I don't know but do you have a working rifle for hunting? Hoping to see some photo's especially those working rifles and...

    TRU-OIL problem

OK... This is the best that I can do. I wish I could produce the beautiful wood work that you all have shown me. But this dog is too old for learning new tricks. I tend to take the easy way out now, HA!.......labrat

    TRU-OIL problem

Update......It's been 5 days since the last hand rubbed coat and I am happy to say that it is no longer tacky to the touch. I just left it alone to dry in the warmth of my garage with the shop fan on. The finish looks great and I'm sure happy I don't have to do this all over! Thanks for all...

    TRU-OIL problem

Yep! I believe it's a result of not allowing it to dry out completely. The coats that I applied were put on thinly. I just finished a rifle using Tried & Tru with 8 coats and it come out beautiful with no drying problems. I turned to Tru Oil because it sounded so much easier to work with...

    TRU-OIL problem

Thank You gentleman for your feedback. Very beautiful stock finishes you all have. I did apply the first to the last coat very thinly as I have been warned to do on this website. I would rub it in until it started getting sticky then stopped. I should have stopped and waited for it to...

    TRU-OIL problem

Stripped Pedersoli walnut stock and stained it. I let it dry completely , 2 days, and I applied the tru-oil as directed. Looks real good but it didn't dry completely after a day in the sun. Still a little tacky but I lightly steel wool it and apply another light coat and let it dry in the...
