    Flinglock cleaning

This is my process: BARREL: 1. Take off the barrel. 2. Grab a bucket and fill it with water and place the breech end of the barrel in the bucket of water. 3. Get a patch and run it up and down the bore in a pumping motion. 4. Keep doing that until the patches run clean. 5. Dry the bore with...

Has anyone used 1F in a rifle ?

From what I've seen, small bore target rifles are generally used with Fg. Capandball uses 1 1/2 Fg for his original target rifles. Original percussion long range rifle with paper patched bullets

Range Report Veterans Arms 1740 Long Land Brown Bess

My personal lube is a 50/50 mix of Murphy's Oil Soap and water. It keeps the fouling soft and it's very slick.

    Cleaning a "Patent Breech"

Reguardless of the rifle, I always take the barrel off for cleaning. I put the breech in a bucket of tepid soapy water, and I start pumping the water in the barrel, in and out with a patch and jag combo. This cleans the patent breech real good.

    My first flintlock

Welcome to the flintlock family! You're probably going to need flints, a pan primer and a vent pick (optionally you could a flint knapping hammer but it's not required). First of all, you're going to want to get the proper size flint. A 5/8" flint is likely going to be your best fit due to the...

Hawken Rifles, What's All The Hoopla?!

I think the design of the Hawken rifle is what made it so popular. Compared to small caliber target rifles and large caliber military muskets, Hawken rifles strike a perfect balance between the two IMO.

    A Generational Hobby

Just got the rifle today, and it is in absolute pristine condition. There was a lot of dust I had to remove in the bore and there was some brass discoloration, but after a thorough cleaning it was like brand new. I was expecting the bore to be pitted to hell, but it is in 100% perfect condition...

    A Generational Hobby

Around 4 months ago, I got interested into BP shooting. None of my family shot BP, so I joined a muzzleloading club to help me get started, or at least that's what I thought. Today I was informed by a family member that my great grandpa actually built a muzzleloader all the way back in the 70's...
