Pedersoli Harper's Ferry Pistol Wonky Lock Geometry.

Hello! I just got my Harper's Ferry pistol in the mail today from Pedersoli. I have heard that the locks on these guns possibly need a good tuning and some work in order to get the geometry right. When I unboxed the pistol, it became apparent that some lock work has to be done. The **** stops...

    Beautiful leather work.

Round ball patch size and accuracy

I cut at the muzzle. It's the perfect size, and it is always centered! I use 0.18" ticking, but some people use muslin and some other stuff as well (I have yet to try those options).

I’m in too deep auction buy…..

What a good buy! I've always been a fan of back-action percussion locks. Looks like you got a keeper right there.

    Pedersoli 1805 Harper's Ferry Pistol

Also, how does it shoot? I've heard issues with lock geometry on some Pedersoli flinters.

    Pedersoli 1805 Harper's Ferry Pistol

Hello all. I recently bought a Pedersoli 1805 Harper's Ferry Pistol off Dixie Gun Works. I was just wondering about y'alls recommendations on charge, patch thickness and flint size. Thanks!

    Hello from Charlotte, North Carolina

Welcome from Hutto, Texas. I am pretty green myself to black powder, these guys will help you out on your BP journey immensely. Once you start shooting muzzleloaders, you'll leave your other guns at home!

    Thoughts on my blunderbuss

I would love to own one that's for sure!

    Whats this in the barrel?

Just looks like a little bit of surface rust. I would cut out a piece of green Scotch-Brite, and use a nice penetrating oil and scrub it up and down through the bore.

SOLD New build Fusil de Chasse

Dude, that build is amazing! There's nothing I don't like about it! I would take it off your hands in a heartbeat if I actually had any money 😅.

FOR SALE Good news from Friendship

Awesome news. I've been fortunate to been able to buy powder through my club, but I'm afraid when that dries up I'll be SOL!

    Trade Gun VS Brown Bess

Just reading this thread makes me want a Bess! Maybe I'll get the Pedersoli Bess one of these days.

I thought he was referring to the grain in the lock panel 😂 .

    2F In A Flintlock Smoothbore

I always prefer the real thing (don't we all?). From what I've heard, duplex loads have a tendency to hangfire and flash in the pan. I would personally only load like this if my powder was running low. But hey, if it works for others it works :thumb:, just not my cup of tea.

    WANTED hopkin and allen parts

I have a .44 cal Hopkins and Allen "The Offhand" underhammer. I have the rear sight for it. If the dovetails are the same, I can send it over to you because I have no use for it.

    2F In A Flintlock Smoothbore

Pyrodex has a higher flashing point. The heat from the pan is just not enough to ignite the Pyrodex reliably. Some people do a duplex load of 5 grains real black powder and the rest of the main charge Pyrodex and the real BP acts as a "starter" for the main charge of Pyrodex. I don't recommend...

    Buying Black Powder

I buy through my club. Bought 2 pounds of Schutzen FFFg for 20 bucks. Can't beat that!
