    Uses for "pine" sap?

That is an excellent piece! I have a bunch of "dragon glass" and you are right it's driving me mad... I also have quite a bit of dacite so I've been working with that lately. I'm getting there, but have a hard time thinning without breaking. I'd like to make a knife at some point but want to...

    Uses for "pine" sap?

That's awesome! Hopefully someday I will get there... I am really good at breaking great starts of arrowheads in half!

    Uses for "pine" sap?

I'd love to see a picture of that! I'm just getting into flinknapping, the hardest thing I've ever tried to learn... I'm guessing that he used pine pitch glue, just using pine sap is either to sticky or to brittle.

    Uses for "pine" sap?

Sorry to bump up an old post, but I just made my first batch of pine pitch glue. Pretty simple to make and really good stuff, it's like primitive hot glue. Could easily find the ingredients and be made if you needed some glue when out and about away from the civilized world - hunting, fishing...

    New Shooter Question on Cleaning

I don't use water, usually just Barricade as cleaner and protectant. Keep running patches until clean and I use a scraper. I check periodically to see if any rust is forming in the barrels and so far nothing. Water is fine, been used forever, but they used water because that is the best they...

    Chambers Build

Easiest way to answer all of your questions is to do a search. All of what you've asked has been gone over many times. Chambers are great kits, I've done 3 of them and was in your shoes before my first. By the way, I would purchase your kit asap and then learn about how to go about it...

    Chambers English Fowler

Thanks, Dave. I finally got it to where I wanted it, don't know how many coats I put on, but got it to where I wanted it. It's a fun gun and now to get a turkey with it!

    Morels!

Found a pile of morels the other day, thought we might have gotten too warm too fast, but at least one area had a bunch. Not much of a recipe, but my favorite way of making them is to dust with flour and salt then fry in butter until browned. To die for... Couple fingers of bourbon while...

    Complete Kibler Colonial Smoothrifle

Three-year-old post revived! I remember this build I believe he spent about 130 hours on this Kibler... Someone mentioned this to Jim Kibler on another ML site and Jim promptly posted over here assuring others that his builds should not take anywhere near that amount of time.

I finished my first build...Kibler Colonial

    I haven't seen a Kibler yet that I didn't like.

    Chambers English Fowler Completed!

Thanks guys. I was about to disassemble the gun and re-solder the sight, but I showed it to my daughter, and she said I should leave the heart right side up, ha! So, it's staying, she's likely that one to get it anyway... Anyone around here who sees it doesn't know a fowler from a...

    Chambers English Fowler Completed!

Oh, for Pete's sake! You know when I was soldering in on it crossed my mind, but for some reason I figured the heart shouldn't be upside-down... Ah, easy fix, I think I'm going to play with the bluing a bit anyway. Just got done throwing about a dozen shots down the barrel, fun gun! Got...

How bad did mess up my dovetail?

I'd get a new barrel, you are deep! If you have dimples below that, I would be worried about safe barrel thickness. Next time use hacksaw and safe-side triangle file.

    Chambers English Fowler Completed!

This was my third Chamber's, haven't done a Kibler. I might have gone that route if he'd had a Fowler out.

My next build Jim Chambers PA Fowler

Yeah, metal polishing is not the fun stuff of the process, the dremel became my good friend for that.

    Chambers English Fowler Completed!

I finished it up a couple days ago and assembled yesterday. This gun was a pleasure to build, it was by far the nicest pre-cut stock I've done, hats off to Chambers again. It was also the fastest build so far partially due to me getting more of a feel for it being my third go at it but also no...

    Bluing Touch Up

Ahhh, much better... Oxpho Blue should work just fine, doubt it will change the factory blue but if it does you will be able to buff it back to original.
