    Minnie Ball Stuck 1861 Springfield

I had one stuck once and I sprayed a bunch of WD-40 or penetrating oil down the barrel and let it sit for a couple of days. I still had to pound it, but it did eventually go down. I'd make sure to use a pipe/tube near as bore size as possible.

Nitrating paper ..besides hurting stupid takes time!

A follow up Darwin award to my story above also happened with that same Remington Army .44. We were out of school for the Christmas break and my older brother and I decided we would go chop down a tree to decorate. In route to Allen's Canyon (where we usually went to get one), a nice jack rabbit...

Nitrating paper ..besides hurting stupid takes time!

In my early years of black powder, I built me a Remington Army .44 revolver from a kit. My cold blue job looked like hell, but it shot really well. Living in a rural community 2 hours away from any larger city caused me to compensate quite a bit. The local gas station/garage gave me some wheel...

    Old supplies

I don't think I have ever used pre-lubed patches. I've always cut my own out of cotton pillow ticking and either threw them in my mouth (if I'm shooting targets) or I'll use some lube if they are staying in the gun a while (hunting). There is nothing quite like the feel of dry cotton cloth going...

    Lubing Minnies??

I go about it the same way. Finger lube, but you don't want to pick you nose! As far as Crisco, I've heard they put some degree of salt in it - doesn't sound too good for the bore, besides, it melts out in warm weather. I used to use it in my percussion revolvers when I first got started. I also...

    My wife don't understand me

Growing up, yard work was generally a punishment - I pretty much still view it as such today, much to my wife's dismay.

    Dixie Promo codes

I've tried that not only with Dixie, but others as well and I haven't been able to find a good one. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

Whats a good side by side shotgun

Reminds me of when Rod Steward was doing an interview after the divorce of one of his former wives. He was asked if he would ever remarry. His response was, "No, I'll just find a woman I absolutely hate and buy her a house!"

    What model is this?

$200-250 would be max I would pay. I had one I inherited from my father in law a few years back. I sold for $200 and thought I'd done good. The stock was way too short for my 6'4 frame and long arms.

Whats a good side by side shotgun

I think you are right. If you look around on Gunbroker or any of your local gun sale sites, you may find one. I picked mine up a while back from a local guy for around $300. I think you can find one if you are not in a big hurry between $300-500 depending on condition.

Whats a good side by side shotgun

I have an older Navy 12 full/full and it does great. I use 13 gauge wads, 80-85 grains FFG and 1 - 1 1/8 oz shot. Percussion is pretty much it. You can find some Flint repos, but they are on the expensive side from what I saw.
