Shooting the Dave Crispin custom longrifle

In this video I'll be shooting the beautiful, custom flintlock longrifle built for me by Dave Crispin. This is a gorgeous early styled rifle with Northampton County influences. At its heart is a .50 caliber Coleraine "B" profile, swamped barrel and a Siler lock. It is so much lighter and faster...

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

At long last...here is the firing video of the completed Track of the Wolf Bucks County Flintlock rifle kit. I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this forum, but folks here watched the build in progress, and I thought you might want to see if it actually works...

    My Dave Crispin-built rifle

The comb has a slight curve. It is very comfortable to shoot with 75 grains of 3Fg Goex

    My Dave Crispin-built rifle

I got the bag at a small event at Prickett's Fort two years ago. The horn is a PA screw top. Got it at the Ft. Frederick Market Fair.

    My Dave Crispin-built rifle

I just picked up this rifle that Dave Crispin in Westminster, Maryland built for me. I wanted an early Bucks County rifle, with a sliding wood patchbox that would be suitable for the 1760s through 1780s. I know that there are people who will say that the Bucks County School dates from the 1790s...

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

Fred, I appreciate you taking it easy on me in the critique department, though your advice was invaluable to me on this build...and this was still the best that I could do... You have worn me down on the Lehigh County build. I'll bow to your experience. The sad thing is that I already...

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

It took me 15 months, but the Bucks County Kit build is finally done, and I learned some lessons along the way. This was my first build in 23 years, and when I started it, I wasn’t trying to make a rifle I could be proud of. I just wanted to make a rifle that I wouldn’t be ashamed of”¦which is...

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

This is Update #30, the final installment in the Bucks County flintlock rifle build series. It has been a 15 month project, and frankly, I'm happy to see the end of it. Thanks to all of you who followed it since the beginning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbHTVwQ76Ms

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

Hi Swamp Rat. I did the barrel work while the various coats of stain and finish were drying. I don't like doing the finish work on the barrel until after the stock is finished because I'm always dinging the barrel with something or other during the course of the build. Update #30 covers browning.

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

Keith, You won't get an argument from me on either of those points. This is only the second time that I've put beaver tails on lock molding, and I wasn't completely happy with them either. I'll just say that it is still the best lock molding that I've done to date, but I have a long way to go...

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

Swamp Rat, I have a studio down in the shop. I earn my daily bread as a gun writer, so photography just goes with the territory. Of course, shot I took on the bench while building aren't as controlled as beauty shot like this one.

TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update

The Bucks County build is 99.9% finished. I'm just waiting for the finish to dry on the ramrod. Then I'll pin the RR tip in place, and...DONE!!! :) Video in a week or two... Bigger picture http://i.imgur.com/4QNF4nv.jpg
