    Jimminy Crocketts Batman!

If you sand with the brass butt plate removed the stock will take on a rounded shape at the edges of butt end. Better to leave the butt plate in place. This will also eliminate proud wood and metal. Brass can be fine sanded and polished later to eliminate the initial sanding scratches. This is...

    .25 CALIBER HALFSTOCK

I think the .25 should minimize damage to the good parts, if I can manage to hit them at all! Hoping the abundance of acorns and hickory nuts this year will improve squirrel numbers in the years to come.

    .25 CALIBER HALFSTOCK

I'll down size to 10 grains next time I shoot and use that as a starting point. Does twist rate come into play when deciding powder load? I have the breech plug out, I'll try to estimate or measure twist before I reassemble. Jeff

    .250 Round Ball

Hello All, Need advice on obtaining .250 round ball for a percussion rifle. #3 buckshot seems to be the correct size but should I be concerned about shooting alloy lead from an antique rifle? I would also like to find an affordable source. Thanks, Jeff

If my gun collection is looking too big and causes me some guilty feelings I cure it by looking in my wife’s shoe closet.

    Off the bench...

I've not seen many halfstock flintlocks and none as elegant as this. Did you build it for a specific shooting event or hunting purpose? In a smaller caliber it would be an impressive squirrel rifle.
