    In the pawnshop.

Great score! The pawn shops around here seem to specialize in broken junk. I have a Tasco scope on my 7 mm Mag centerfire rifle...never a problem in 25 years. I inherited a .50 Investarms /Cabelas Hawken from my Dad with a nice Redfield scope...I think I'll leave it that way as that was his...

    1858 Speed Shooting video

That was a lot of lead to push through a barrel in a short period. I'd love to see what his target looked like . I 'd also love to know whether he had, through trial and experimentation, came up with a specific ball diameter, powder selection and charge and lube for each cylinder to account for...

    What would you choose?

'63 Sharps 54 cal and Navy 36 cal revolver. Better accuracy and/or more shots per minutes if it came to a situation where those mattered, big enough for anything, small enough for anything, no risk of mixing up the ammo.

Some information for those interested in buying the 1859 Sharps (Be it from Chiappa or Pedersoli)

I'm the new owner via inheritance of a Farmingdale New Shiloh 1863 Sharps infantry rifle with a 3-digit SN that's been fired less than 10 times with paper cartriges. My Dad liked the fact that it was a Shiloh because we used to live near and do a lot of hiking at the Shiloh Battlefield in SW...

    Newbie from NC

Thanks for the warm welcome! From reading the forums so far I have concluded that I now have four completely different BP weapons. My Dad liked the 50 cal Hawken but I cannot lie: I am psyched to learn how to play with the 54 cal. Sharps New Shiloh 1863 rifle, Farmingdale 3 digit SN. As a...

Are movie prop revolvers fully functional reproductions?

Five pages into this thread, some observations: 1) The so-called absolute prohibition against political posts on general forum thread has not impeded the unproductive expression of politically-based vitriol; 2) Movies featuring lots of shooting have been popular for over 90 years yet some folks...

    Howdy from NE Texas.

Welcome! I'm 65 and in the same boat except I inherited 3 BP rifles and a revolver from my late father and I've already learned some things from reading this thread!

    Newbie from NC

I'm a lifelong hunter in the mountains of western North Carolina who recently inherited several BP rifle and pistols and I know almost nothing....but I'm hoping to change that .
