    Squirrel Season 2022

    :D I have seen groundhogs in trees already. Maybe around 10 feet or so was the highest I’ve seen them in a tree. This squirrel hit a branch or two on the way down. Thought for sure I had em. 3 groundhog holes at the base of the tree. I’m sure something will find him for a easy meal.

    Squirrel Season 2022

    Jim you have a nice setup. I like the dark color of the stock. :thumb: Yesterday in PA I went out in the morning. Seen 7 deer and a few squirrels. Shot one out of a big walnut tree only to go down a groundhog hole. 🤬

    Going Green

    I used wasp/bees nest material before in my trade gun. You need to experiment with how much nest stuff you put in between powder and shot. Also over shot. 1st time I tried it, I didn’t put enough in between powder and shot. It felt like a dud when I shot. No recoil and not loud like it normally...

    Do you prefer 3F or 4F for priming ?

    I normally use 4f in the pan. One day while squirrel hunting I ran out of 4f. I didn’t have my little priming horn full before I went hunting. I put some 2f (what I put in the barrel) in the pan. It worked when I shot my next squirrel. But I do prefer 4f in the pan.

    Your Ideal Hunting Muzzleloader?

    I do like my 58cal trade gun. I can shoot shot or round ball. I take it squirrel hunting more than deer. I also have a 54cal Lyman trade rifle I like shooting too.
