    1861 Navy

Hello all, I thinking of getting an 1861 Navy. So far I purchased two revolvers and 1851 Navy and a 1858 Remington both are Pietta's and I want to buy a 1861 Navy but I notice the Pietta is an 8in barrel. So now I'm concerned with whether I should pursue that purchase or not. I know it's just a...

Just received my tracking numbers today for my Kibler SMR. Very stroked. I asked and .45 barrels still not in yet.

    Delivery lead times?

I guess it all depends on where you live. I live in a small town in north central Florida and really have had no problems. But we know the UPS driver and are friendly with our USPS lady. Fedex I don't know any of their drivers because they are not from our town but unless it's BP or must have...

    Waiting game has started.

I ordered my Kibler .45 SMR July 2, 2021 but just called and asked Lorie to switch it over to .40 Thursday. She said they expect the .45 barrels in two weeks but had the .40 in stock. She switched it with no problem. Sorry I didn't ask about any other sizes.

Looking for a starter flintlock $400-500 range. Will I find anything good at that price?

I wouldn't let that stop you. I live in a 5th wheel and my first rifle was a Traditions St. Hawken Kit I built. Granted it was a percussion rifle but it wasn't hard to build and took up very little space. I did have to buy a Workmate bench that I could fit a vice on but that's about the only big...

Quality of flints from Dixie Gun Works

Well the Dixie's website said they were English Flints, so I assume they were.

Quality of flints from Dixie Gun Works

Okay thanks everyone. I ordered six flints with my SMR from Kibler but figured I'd need more. These were the best price I could find since Track of the Wolf was out. But maybe next time I'll spend a little more. Where else do people buy flints from?

Quality of flints from Dixie Gun Works

This was my first time buying flint. I bought them from Dixie because TotW was out. Now I only paid $1.86 each but I'm not impressed. Here is what I got. Is about what I should expect?

I quite agree with you, I'm in a very similar situation. It's either buy on line or just do without.

Uberti vs Pietta, Not the same old, same old.....This could be news.

I just purchased a Pietta 1851 Navy in .36cal April 2021. And personally the fit and finish look exceptional. The pistol has performed flawlessly. I also have a 1851 Navy London on order. I do like the grip of the London model much better than the "normal" 1851.

All paid up just waiting for barrels

I hear ya my GPSR is walnut and I liked working with it and the way it turned out so I was considering going with that on the SMR but just decided I'd go with what Jim recommends which appears too be maple. Good luck with what you decide.

All paid up just waiting for barrels

Ordered a Kibler SMR I think in July when they were offering “order now- pay when shipped” I paid the lock in August but just paid the rest today. I talked with Lorie and she says they are still waiting on .45 barrels. Just thought I’d pass that along to anyone else who’s ordered a .45 barreled gun.

    Priming with 3F

Well thanks everyone. But I guess I need to make it clear that I only have 3f powder. This whole thread was because I just wanted to know what people were using to put 3f powder into their pans because all the priming dispensers I saw were for 4f and I only have 3f. I will be using either a...

    Priming with 3F

Yeah I saw that one and wondered if it would work, I also found one by Fort Chambers that is suppose to work but I may just try like every else seems to and just use my powder horn. Then if I have problems or want more control I'll look into one of these or the other. Thanks everyone most helpful.
