Trying to understand this “short arbor” on Uberti revolvers

LOL Just say, it stands to reason that even Colt realized the weakness of his design and recognized the strength of Remingtons design.

    Best .58 Minie Bullet Mold?

Funny story, but years ago the N-SSA had a stake event where a musket team had to shoot a 2x6 in half. Myself and a number of the older guys would load our Minie balls backwards so that it would act like a giant hollow point and bust up that wood fast. With a tight fitting Minie it flew true...

    Pedersoli Springfield 1861 loads?

Sizing is not only important to accuracy its important because the bullet needs to expand when fired. If you size it as tight as possible the bullet expands a little, but if you use one to small the bullet skirt may expand to much and get ripped off leaving a ring of lead in the barrel. While I...

which is a better musket vendor for the Springfield 1861 and CS Richmond: Armi, Chiappa, Euro Arms, Traditions or Pederosi?

Traditions is made Chiappa which was Armi-sport. and I also heard that it was Pedersoli that bought out Euro-Arms. Navy Arms and Traditions didnt really make anything, they where Armi-sport, Euro-Arms, Mirokou and Zoli. Navy Arms was like Taylor Firearms or Cimarron Firearms is today.

    Pedersoli Springfield 1861 loads?

Dave951, you know the saying about leading a horse to water right??? most people on this board aren't n-ssa guys like we are, they still think round ball and a ton of powder is the way to go. Minnie balls have some voodoo magic that only we N-ssa members understand. So forget about talking lube.

    Minnie Ball Transport

Yep every N-SSA member uses them!! I think we are the only people that even know what they are or how to find them!! Heck we even have them for our revolvers!

    I acquired Beeswax.

there is no voodoo magic to the mix its just 2 parts, eyeball it! I use an old musket cap tin (or small soup can), so i fill half of it with oil, then add beeswax till its full and melt the 2 together. its not to scientific but it works every time for me!
  17. RjSixgun

    I acquired Beeswax.

I put my oil in the can 1st, then ad the bees wax. reasons are liquid is easier to measure, the oil helps to melt the wax keeping the wax from burning.

    zouave muskets

Thats the best thing about the 1841s, they can be modified into models that most people have never seen or heard of. there were so many different carbines, muskets, rifles, and rifled-muskets used during the ACW, its a shame that nobody reproduces them. Like a Whiteney Militia Rifle! parts...

    I acquired Beeswax.

I use a cast iron pan over a low flame with a soup can in the middle to melt my lube. 50/50 is a good start
