    Shoot in’ both?

I am new to BP so I still shoot my other guns, but I find more and more that I am less likely to pack unmentionable guns for range days or to unpack them from the car. Of course that goes away as my reserve of Black Powder goes down, but I just got a shipment :-) Also, I always do some work...

    Pedersoli using Cekote

Yes I have some unmentionable guns with that finish on them. It is very tough and nearly permanent but it can be worn away. I don't know what it would take to purposely remove it in a uniform way. The stuff is pretty tough and that is one of the advantages of it.

    Prime with 3 or 4F

How much 4f do you use as a main charge? Is there some conversation formula?
  5. J

    Yes it is Gunpowder

Well the original post does leave lots of questions. Mostly, "What in tarnation is he talking about?"

    Prime with 3 or 4F

That's what I have. I actually think it is easier to prime with that than with my range flask.... But that is probably because it is what I am used to. The only reason I stopped yesterday is because I didn't want to refill my primer thrower thing.... Does that have a name? Anyway, both...

    Prime with 3 or 4F

I can see larger grains being less absorbent, as they have less surface area. I got a pound of 4F because that's what I read you use for priming. I've primed with 3F before and it worked fine, and this time it seemed to work better. There is either a reason, it was just a coincidence, or...

    Prime with 3 or 4F

I am in that same boat. A pound of 4F will prime a lot of pans.

    Prime with 3 or 4F

The other day at the range I was getting a lot of flash in the pans. It was getting late in a long day at the range and I was tired. I normally prime with 4F, but my priming measure was out, so I just uest the 3F that is my main charge. I noticed more sure ignition. Is this a thing or...

    Locktime visualized

Durring my morning meal I can across this little video. I don't know if his explanation of what is going on is spot on, but watch through to the end where he makes some interesting statements on flinching. The man is a competent gunsmith and historian, but I am more familiar with his work...

    Tiger Striping on Stocks?

You are right. I was thinking "Home jobs" at faking figuring. I have seen a FEW decent looking fake figure, but they were all from professional craftsmen, or modern production facilities (some mid-high end cars). I think it is like the difference between the photo I see on Pinterest and...

    Tiger Striping on Stocks?

That chance is bordering on 100% I have never seen a good looking example. Same goes with "Mustard pattern welding". Maybe he is asking what finish brings it out the best? And does sun and oxidation help make it pop?

    Pandemic lube

Shoot, wish someone would have told me! I am new here and a Damn Yankee to boot. I don't quite know the ways of these hill folk yet. thinking about it, has anyone tried antifreeze as a patch lube or cleaner? I am thinking that it has a few good properties for those uses.

    Pandemic lube

Short story: I can't buy Everclear. Long story: Early this year I moved to West Virginia. Because moving is expensive, I had many months before my plates needed renewal, I needed to gather the needed paperwork, and I still had a home in the previous state; I didn't immediately file for...
