    Oddly all barrels like different combinations. I have a Green Mountain 50 cal barrel that is very happy to run 75-80 gr. 2f goex, patched with a 0.018 mink oil lubed patch, and a 495 ball.

    Should my lock mortise look like this?

    I have fount this to be true with both my flintlocks. Part of it is moisture due to cleaning the rest is powder combustion. Dry thoroughly before replacing the lock and you should be fine.

    How long do you spend cleaning your long rifle after an outing at the range

    When I come home from the range and a few hours of steady shooting at total of 45 min -60 minutes is required for a total tear down, cleansing (including barrel flush and dry), lubing the flintlock, reinstalling the flint and oiling the barrel. $1500-$1800 investments are well worth it.

    Scratched Frizzen

    I have bought flints from several laces, but you can go wrong with the English flint’s from “The Track of the Wolf” They work perfectly in both of my larger singer locks and are good for many rounds.
