    Leather Loading Block

Something different, thats all. "My buddy made work harness and gave me some heavy scraps he had left over. Real easy to make. I used a leather punch then a sharp knife. Dilly"...I;ll look into that, may be able to get something from work. "Leather shoe sole will work."...I'll look into that...

    Leather Loading Block

I would like to make or purchase a 2 to 3 ball leather loading block. Has any one made one or purchased one, where did you get the leather from and how thick for a .520 ball with a .018 patch? Thanks...Mike

cleaning tip, just want to verify

Not sure where you guys get your HP but we pickup a large bottle from Wally-World for like two bucks, it's always in the house as is the alcohol, even cheaper I get all I want from work. I mix 4 ouces at a time goes a long way and takes but a couple of minutes to mix together.

cleaning tip, just want to verify

Been using the mix for years with no ill effects. Exception being the amounts. I use the following. 3 parts alcohol 2 parts HP 1 part murphys. I typically run a spit patch to get the bulk of the fouling out, plug up the touchhole then pour a very small amount of the solution down the...

    tapered ramrod

Make it you self. I use a cordless drill and sandpaper. Chuck up the thick end place the drill on the floor, operate the switch with your foot. I check it as i go along, doesn't take very long.

    Dixons Gunmakers Fair

Actually it's a three day event, not two as someone mentioned. It's a must attend for anyone interested in traditional muzzleloading, plenty of guns and you name it, if it has anything to do with traditional muzzleloading it's available. Plus you have the 2nd largest Cabelas in the country...

    Supplier question

What T/C does by stating that I can respect. To the second...Precisely why they should leave out an email addy and only have a telephone number with hours to call. I have seen sites where the owner stated times a call will be answered. That I can respect also.

    Supplier question

I tend to agree. It is simple enough in the websites "contact" information to leave out an email addy and simply put in a note to call with inquires and only have a phone number. If a website has an email address in the "contact" page I expect a reply within one or two business days.

    L&R John Bailes Lock

I took a good look at it last night. Looks like the slot for the half **** position is not deep enough so pressure on the sear will move it out.

    L&R John Bailes Lock

Thanks for the information guys. I shot an email over to the Rice barrel Company for LC. Dave...Forgot to mention earlier mine will drop the "hammer" when in half **** both in the pistol by the trigger and with the lock removed and in my hands. I'm assuming this is not right, nothing looks...

    L&R John Bailes Lock

For the guys that own and use one. How is yours on flint life and reliablity regarding a good spark after a few strikes? Bevel up or down? Tuning issues or suggestions? Any input would be appreciated. I have one on a pistol and I'm not having the best of luck with flint life, after a few...

    209 adaptor for sidelock

Plain old #11 caps work just fine in the rain. When I was hunting with nipple guns I would wipe a little "Chap Stik" around the nipple before I slid the cap on. Air/Water tight seal. Never failed me including the time I shot a big 8 pointer during a still hunt in the pouring rain.

lyman gpr double loaded, what now?

Rod Click on the link. I have one of each a 44" 1/4" rod 8/32 and a 44" 5/16 10/32 both with a ridged handle (not rotating). One of the best investments you will make in shooting equipment.

Rice barrel and caywood lock thoughts

I have had no problem with the one Mike used on my LH Carolina Gun and would not hesitate to use one again.

    NorthStar Canoe Gun

It is a smoothbore not a rifle, that being said I would go with the 41" barrel. No less than 36" for sure. Only my opinion, but a "canoe gun" is a novelty gun. Something you get when you got everything else you could put to pratical use, but just "need" to order something just "because".

    Custom builders

That may be a problem if your looking for a custom scratch build. Some of the better builders have at least a 12 to 18 month wait to just begin the build, depending how elaborate of a build your asking for it could be another 2 months before it's in your hands.

    Custom builders

Can't go wrong with Roy Stroh or Mike Brooks. I own one from each. Check their websites each has some guns for sale that may suit you, or email them about a build.

    amadou

I have used amadou for drying flies also. There is a fungus that grows on birch trees where they have been damaged which is called chaga or tinder fungus. It looks like a black mass that you break open, air dry and use as is, no need to adulterate it. I have some works great. There is a guy...

tighting a leonard day swivel breech rifle

Would that be the one on the CLA site? If so I inquired also and passed on it for that very reason. I thought the price was to good to be true.
