Opinions on product for glass bedding a stock that was overcut by a newbie

Someone else mentioned probed 2000. That's all I've used, but for a bolt rifle. I think it would be overkill for a ML barrel channel. Honestly, devcon would be too. I'd just use whatever is cheapest. Maybe acraglas since you can dye it.

.58 Colonial is a heart breaker

True. For this trip, I'd rather use less because I don't need a lot of range but I think 125gr might be most accurate so far.

.58 Colonial is a heart breaker

Is that the entry? What was the load and how far was the shot? I'm planning on loading 125gr 2f in my 58 for my first hunt with it. I'm wondering what to expect at 50 yards on a deer. Similar to a slug, or total destruction?

Flintlock accuracy and need help finding load

I don't believe bedding the barrel inlet sides and bottom would really help me any noticeable amount, but potentially the breech. I was a little concerned that my breech wasn't solidly seated against the stock after tightening the tang screws (long tang and 2 screws), but I measured the muzzle...

    Real Hawken or not?

    Any recent updates?

Flintlock accuracy and need help finding load

I thought that was yours! Great work and thanks for sharing your pictures. I referenced them a few times when I built mine. And good shooting! I never thought about trying a bigger ball and thinner patch because of those deep grooves. I figured it wouldn't work out, but maybe I'll give it a...

Slick looking gun! Did you by chance bed the barrel inlet? I'm pretty sure I ran across your build pictures somewhere online

    Three weeks!

I wondered if the lube/oil whatever used for preventing rust when in storage would have any impact on it or not. I use ballistol between shooting sessions for rust protection. I for some odd reason constantly get flash rusting after cleaning my bore even though I use cool water and dry it...

    Three weeks!

So the cleaning method doesn't have much if anything to do with the ability to leave it fouled for weeks without rust, right? And using a patch lube that is natural, either animal or plant based, should be good to test this out, for example Track of the wolf mink oil? Would you expect this to...

    Three weeks!

I'm really confused. Are you cleaning the bore with rum and antibacterial wipes? You also mention using the correct lube to be able to foul it and not clean for awhile. What lube would that be?

    Yet another patch cutting method

I think I'll have to start doing this. I have been using my wife's fabric cutting wheel. Cut strips, then cut squares off one by one. It's a pain.

Flintlock accuracy and need help finding load

I made some progress. I coned my muzzle with Joe wood's took a few days ago. I don't know if this is what did the trick or if it's something else. I went and shot today and it seems to help quite a bit. I must have had a very tight muzzle. There's a reference line on the coning tool that...

Flintlock accuracy and need help finding load

That's a good thought and I actually did catch that happening last year! My front sight has moved... I noticed a sudden shift one direction about 12" at 50 yards and found it had moved when I was loading the ball and had my hand on the sight. I've since peened the copper base a bit to tighten...

Flintlock accuracy and need help finding load

Those targets were off sandbags on a bench :/ I'll certainly try some 3f at some point. It just probably won't be before my hunt.

Flintlock accuracy and need help finding load

I may do that later this winter if I can't make any progress. I am hopeful, though.

Screw on pour spout for Schuetzen plastic bottles?

I second JDBraddys idea. It is the same as mine. I used a spare schuetzen cap, drilled a whole that fits the extractor groove on a 7mm08 case. Drilled out the primer pocket plus some of a 7mm08 case. Then insert brass case mouth trough the cap hole until it clicks into the extractor groove...

I agree. I'd like to be able to do it consistently

Hard, brittle, and fast PRB for more damage?

That I do not know. I've yet to shoot any game with my flintlock and have only been in the muzzleloader game for a couple years. My knowledge only extends to some principles of terminal ballistics where new and old intersect.
