    WANTED Neck Knife

That's a beauty, what style of knife is that?

    Pedersoli Kodiak Doubles

I haven't read every reply but the rear sights are for elevation not for each barrel. Regulation is synonymous with every double muzzleloader or cartridge.

    FOR SALE Scammed also.

Whenever I buy a second hand gun online I get the seller to take it to a gun shop and I call the gunshop to a) make sure it's there and b) that it's on the condition as described.

    How to barn tan leather?

As a kid I did some rough skin on hide tanning in bark but it was more a miracle than anything that it worked. I'd really like to get into making my own leather for shooting patches, creating knife sheaths and a shooting bag, belts etc. Does anyone have a how to for this or some reference...

    Strange firearms incidents in movies/shows

I'm aware of the scene (at least from the TV show) that you're referring to. I was asked by a customer when I picked up my fowler "how many shots can you fire a minute?", as he picked up his new bolt action, I just smiled and said "maybe one!". The shop owner did come to my defence and pointed...

    Strange firearms incidents in movies/shows

They're not true westerns in the sense, but the 2003 film Ned Kelly based on the life of the famous bush ranger Ned Kelly is a good Australian period film. A big portion of Australia's first European immigrants were Irish and like your ancestors in the states were oppressed by the English. Ned...

    Strange firearms incidents in movies/shows

What about in the Revenant when in the opening gun fight scene, Di Caprio hears the commotion so loads his flintlock by pouring powder down the barrel, then pouring shot into his mouth, spitting it into the barrel and then continuing on his way. I saw in one crap movie, a guy sharpening the...

what a difference 5 grains makes!

Weight instead of volume also tightens things up.

    Loading shot without wads

Ended up using some fibre chair stoppers and patches. There was a complete lack of consistency at every point even the pellets were a mix of 4s and 6s but had a blast just firing it for the first time. Had a few clacks and a couple of flash in the pans, when it ignited it was near...

What style of knife is this?

I am fortunate in a way to live where I do as for the most part we do not have tags and seasons the same way that you do in the states. The positive being that I have been in on the killing and butchering of lots of big game, if you know how to use a knife properly a guard is not necessary. I've...

    Looking for my first flintlock...Pedersoli?

Same goes for any muzzleloader, fortunately it's a mistake most of us only make once! I really want a frontier myself one day, keen to see how yours progresses.

He's not wrong, I have every intention of using the wads and overshot cards I've bought for the foreseeable future. I just want to get out for a shot this weekend, at the rate I'm going I won't be able to anyway though.

They're about $2,300 new here, mind you I bought mine second hand in as new condition for less than half that. But yes I have every intention of looking after it.

We don't have hornets in this part of the world do that doesn't matter too much to me. I do like making flint fires though, when I do backpack hunts I always have my flint and some cotton wool.

    Loading shot without wads

While we have digressed a bit from my original question, is my understanding that using say 60 grains of 2F and the a volumetric 80 grains of shot is a good place to start?

I've been meaning to ask you, when you broke the ramrod on your trade gun, were you really giving it a hard push or is it just flimsy as all get out? Speaking with pwdersoli they recommended a .614 ball with a .010 patch which I feel will be a tight fit.
