Miss Elizabeth gets a hair cut !!

Very nice. I'm rebuilding my smoothbore which started out as a Virginia smoothbore with a 42 in. barrel. I cut it down to 36 in. so far and bought a Tulle type stock. I will try to make a New England fowler out of it. I like a shorter barrel because of the thickness of the brush here.

Adding a rear sight to my fowling piece.

I started wearing glasses at the age of 6. Due to the onset of glaucoma my doc sent me to have new lenses installed in my eyes, back in 2015. At 80 yrs. old I can still see my sights. Now if I can get a body transplant I'd be in good shape!

    Do you gut your deer?

I have always gutted my game immediately after shooting it. One year I brought my son's deer and mine to a butcher, it cost $120 . We got a total of 120 pounds of meat, but that was the first and last time for me. I have always skinned, butchered, and wrapped my animal. with my arthritis and...

    Armadillo

Trapped muskrats in the early 50's. We trapped a tidal swamp, now known as the meadowlands. We would feed the carcasses to the dogs, since the mud they lived in stunk to high heaven. One day we got a newspaper, this happened across the Hudson River from New York City. There was an article about...

Help removing Nipples on an 1858 Remington!

I would get a 1/4 " ratchet and extension, and find a socket that will not go over the nipple and grind a groove across it to fit the flats on the nipple.

    A muzzle loading assault rifle

Does everyone remember the movie Bridge Over River Kwai? Some reporter went to Japan and found and questioned the surviving japs who were in charge of building it. They worked prisoners to death, starved them, refused medical treatment, etc. When asked why they did what they, they did it for the...

English .28 Gauge Single Shotgun need Help

You will probably want a 54 or smaller caliber ball. It will be trial and error. In my 20 gauge I use a ,575 ball in a paper cartridge. I use 70 grains of 3f and get 4 to 5 inch groups at 50 yards. I use the paper cartridges because it gives me a faster second shot if I need it. I carry them in...

    Walker holster ideas

I remember packing a super blackhawk when I lived in Vegas. Thank God I was out in the desert, or else I would have been arrested for indecent exposure. Guns of that weight need a shoulder holster.

    Felt wad idea

Check with Leather Unlimited, I bought a box of scraps that I've made belts & bags from. Ther is plenty of leather to punch wads from.

    Custom steel ramrods

I bought a 48 inch 1/4 inch diameter cold rolled steel rod. I used a Mapp torch and heated the end of it, while locked in my vise. I flared the end with a ball peen hammer. I felt that it was too heavy for what I wanted. Plus it rattled in the pipes.
