Suggestions - 54 Cal Flintlock Longrifle 8.5 Lbs or Less

Pedersoli Frontier .54 is listed at around 7 1/2 lbs. Greg

    Hatfield rifle

Semisane, nice job on the pictures. I wonder how it is that your .50 has a one in 48 twist? I never knew the Squirrel Rifle was offered in anything but a slow twist for a .50 caliber. Also, the Hatfields had browned barrels but yours look blue. Did you refinish that? Greg

    Trends in Muzzleloading, a shift?

I’ve started with cap guns back in the early 1980’s. Never even wanted a flint gun until maybe 3 or 4 years ago. The first shots out of my flinter made me giggle and I have been giggling ever since!! Honestly I can shoot my cap guns way more accurately but the flints are just more fun and...

    Hatfield rifle

Yes that is how you remove the barrel.........I do not believe that either of my Hatfield’s have serial numbers. Greg

    Sighting in a new rifle

I like to shoot a 3” bullseye offhand at 50 yards with a 6 o’clock hold so that would be 1 1/2” high. I shoot my deer under 50 yards. Greg

I would suggest calling or emailing Pedersoli to ask those questions. My Blue Ridge flinter is a .50 and my Frontier is a .36. Neither of my .54’s are Pedersoli’s. Greg

Depending on how you intend to shoot your rifle........if shooting off hand while hunting or target shooting, then go with the Blue Ridge. If you plan on informal plinking from a bench rest then it doesn’t matter. Off hand the Blue Ridge hangs on target very well for me. I own Hatfield’s,Blue...

    Fun on the farm

We have a couple hundred acres in Sw Iowa............plus my mother has another 160 that I used to farm and still manage for her. I do all my hunting on our own property. Built a new small lake on it and had another pond rebuilt. Stocked them with fish and cleaned up the old building site and...

    What was your first Muzzleloader?

In the early 1980’s Iowa introduces their first Muzzleloader Deer Season. I had been bowhunting A year or two by then and figured I would try bp.....I bought a used .50 cal TC Renegade. Shot a deer or two with it and sold or traded it in when i bought my first Hatfield. Been bowhunting and...

Is this a real traditional in line?

I would love to own a gun like this as such an interesting piece! Now the question I have is...........what time is it in the picture? His watch says one thing and the wall clock says another. 😀. Greg

    Advice on first kit

I own both swamped and straight barrels. Yes, the swamped barrels are balanced so sweet and are a joy to hold. With that said, I get my best accuracy out of the forward heavy straight barrels. They just hang on the center of the target and stay there for me. My straight barrels are normally...

    Black powder?

If I remember a conversation I once had with Tip Curtis correctly, he said at the height of his competitive shooting he was going through 6 cases a year...........that is a lot of black but he had the targets to prove his worth!! Greg
