Loads in a original rem 1858

Thanks man! Mine is a original one. We can't own new produced ones in sweden legally. I guess the max load i would shoot with it is around 35-40 grains i never did more then 30! But i'm pretty worried for 40 grains and not sure if it can stand out 50 grains of real black powder. But kinda...

Loads in a original rem 1858

Hey man! No i'm talking about a gun produced back in time i guess 1858 since it's the remington 1858 model i got. And in sweden it's illegal to own one that can take metal cartridges like the modern ones or one that is produced after 1890 so it's a old gun in a very good shape tho so wouldn't...

Loads in a original rem 1858

@Woody Morgan @Wildrangeringreen @rodwha @bang thanks for all the reply's. Well the thing is i probably could get in at least 40-50 grn powder with a round ball but i mean how far can i go and still stay safe the gun won't explode? I see some people saying "use 25-35 grains MAX" and then i...

Loads in a original rem 1858

Is that the amount equivalent in power to what they were shooting back in time? I mean around 1860 when they came out with the remingtons etc. I always load with max 30 grains since i heard that's what they used to have in cartridges. At least the starr revolver not sure exacly about the remington.

Loads in a original rem 1858

Hey! I have been reading about different loads and i somewhere read that uberti and the other replicas usually got harder steel then the original 1858 produced old remington cal .44 like the one i got. So what i wonder about is how much harder steel etc the replicas got? And in case you want...

    Hello everyone!

Thanks man! Yeah i know that. There is a good youtube clip on the starr DA. If you pull back the hammer without the trigger you might actually break it. And there is a second trigger that releases the hammer. So literally the "normal" trigger is only for pulling back the hammer and there is a...

Discharge or shoot my remington 1858?

Hey guys! Not sure if anyone get a notification but the problem is solved now. My friend helped me to get down the bullet all the way with some of his tools for airspace in the chamber and i shot it out! Just finished cleaning the guns. Forgot to make a clip on that tho due to crazy...

Discharge or shoot my remington 1858?

Thanks man! Good advices over there. I'm waiting to get .454 bullets to try and if they are too large i will try .451 bullets to know what size casting block i need for what sized bullets. When i higher the amount of 3f Goex 1 grain at time how do i know if it's getting too much powder or what...

Discharge or shoot my remington 1858?

It's fine man! The remington 44 1858 costed anywhere around 2400$ and the starr army 44 DA around 1900$ in sweden. i'm mostly interested of having a functional gun tho i'm not much of a antiquarian guy. That's just simply the only way for me of being able to buy guns....but they are damn...

Discharge or shoot my remington 1858?

Hopefully i can shoot these bullets in my starr so that i get at least some use of them. Loaded my starr army cal 44 DA with these .457 bullets yesterday with no problem they were easy to get in the chambers i even put paper around them since they were getting in too easy and maybe could roll...

Discharge or shoot my remington 1858?

Yeah man i've noticed how "easy" it is to pull the trigger by accident on these especially the starr since it got a pretty weird mechanism for double action that sometimes works and the single action. I'm not totally new to guns tho i usually go out and shoot with a friend but he got 457 magnum...
