    Carrying a pistol

I used to carry a flint pistol but it’s a pain in the butt and in my opinion dangerous. If you do carry one use a stall on the frizzen for safety. I live in Pa. also and I wouldn’t say I finished off a deer with a knife. That is not a legal device for taking deer. If they want to get picky they...

Bow and arrow verses Flint Guns

I agree with the carbon arrows are not meant for a selfbow !!

FOR SALE Flint swivel breech locks/ new price SOLD

I’m not real sure what I have here. All 3 parts are marked L&R and the 2 pan Sections have no provision for a mainspring so I believe they are an L&R flint swivel breech kit ??? I did reach out to L&R about this but I have not heard back from them yet. Everything is in new condition. This is...

    Won A Hawkin!

Congratulations. It’s a Hawken. Not a Hawkin. I won a percussion T/C Hawken when I was in my early teens. I traded it in for a flint renegade because you can not use a percussion gun in Pennsylvania's flintlock only season. I don’t even remember who I won the gun from. It was a long time ago

Wanted - parts CVA Mountain Rifle Flintlock Lock

Make sure the one you buy has a fly for your double triggers. Cva made that lock also for their pistol and other single triggered guns and it has no fly. I also would go the L&R route. They are not the greatest locks but they are ton better than the stock cva lock. Good luck on your project Stank

My new smoothbore was a slobbered up mess after it's first day at the range!

I use a tornado brush to clean my smoothbores. Works great on fouling.

    CVA Trapper Shotgun Question

I just used a feeler gauge to make a spring for a pedersoli mortimer sliding safety on the lock. Worked great.

    CVA Trapper Shotgun Question

You can take a piece of metal banding or even a feeler gauge (.015). Cut the width with tin snips so it will fit down in the slot that the rod slides in to in the stock. The ramrod is drilled at the entry point and then a slot is milled in to the stock up by the lock to extend the drilled hole...

    Shotguns loading technique

You have done a lot of good work on this. Outstanding. But I have trouble following what you are doing. You’re bouncing around too much for me. I too enjoy playing with off the wall loads (potatoes). That’s how the skychief load was developed. Loading up something that shouldn’t work but it...
