Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
When I built my TOTW flintlock kit, I had to file a notch through the threads of the breech plug from the touch hole to the back of the barrel. My ignition is instantaneous. There are plenty of threads in the breech plug to handle the pressures from black powder. When I first started shooting...
You are an inspiration. My Tulle fusil de chasse doesn't have a rear sight and It's difficult for me to figure out how to aim it for best results. I was just thinking of doing what you already did. I needed a little push. Thanks.
Pay no attention to the people who are impatient with repeated discussions of muzzleloading information. There will always be a lot of the same questions and discussions on any kind of forum, because there are always people coming onto the forum as well as people leaving. Remember: there is no...
I'm working on a jaeger from TOTW right now. Good quality parts and a lot of the work had been done already. BUT......it still is a lot of work and it pays to be a pretty good craftsman and woodworker. I've heard other kits have more of the work done already. With Track's kits be prepared to to...
I've been hunting with a flintlock for a number of years. My worst blunder with a flintlock had nothing to do with flintlock technology...hahaha. While sitting in a pretty good blind, I set my flintlock rifle so that I had to reach for it....this while having coffee and cookies. An eight point...
This is a beautiful gun and a real antique! Could date from the mid 1700s to the early 1800s. As an antique, I would be very careful shooting and cleaning it. Many people would not shoot a gun that old in the interest of preserving and protecting it.
I agree with the range rod and a ball screw. Before you pull, squirt a bunch of lubricant: WD 40, penetrant, heck, even water....down the bore to unstick the ball and patch. If the screw pulls out of the ball, restart and try again. Persistence pays. Then try the other stuff.
Looks good so far! Half tang is period correct, so it is authentic. File marks: nope. Totally not historically correct, but hey, if you like them and don't care to be PC, leave them. I would not have them, myself.
So that's what underbrush looks like in England! Now I know! As another deer hunter told me not long ago: "I go for the TOTAL experience..." That sums it up nicely.
Suburban, but a 45 minute drive takes me to state land where I can do a lot of hunting. A 2.5 hour drive takes me to National Forest areas with unlimited hunting, fishing, birding, hiking.....whatever.
Looking at your pictures....at first glance I thought "Dang, that's some good-lookin' chile!". You just need to use an old tablespoon and skim that crap off until the surface is all silvery-looking. Agree with the others: mold is too cold. Carefully put those wrinkled puppies back into the...
