    Chronic Wasting Disease

Interesting that Minnesota has areas with few deer, because in SE Michigan we are being overrun with them. I see deer everywhere now, and we didn't even see deer around here in the 50s to the 2010s. They are in the northern suburbs of Detroit, and they were never there before.

    Chronic Wasting Disease

Wow......takes 1000 degrees C to incinerate prions....and there is STILL low infectivity after 600 C? That is freakin' amazing....and that is why prions are scary to me.

    Chronic Wasting Disease

I don't agree. What "anti-hunting news media"? I don't hear much of anything about this from regular news. I hear information about CWD from hunting and sporting sources, and from Michigan's DNR.

    Chronic Wasting Disease

Nicely summed up, Spike! I will continue to hunt deer in areas where CWD has not been found, but I will have any deer that I take tested. Right now it has not been found in the area of Michigan where I hunt.

    Chronic Wasting Disease

Good point about it being in Wisconsin and Minnesota for a long time already. I guess some people there are bound to have eaten venison tainted by CWD in all that time. BUT....the disease is related to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Syndrome, and people have died from that in Europe and elsewhere. It's a...

    Chronic Wasting Disease

The appearance of CWD here in Michigan has been a great source of distress and concern for me personally. It has been spreading slowly in our state since it first appeared. Do yourself a favor and read about the disease and what causes it. It's NOT a typical disease caused by a virus or...

It happened again today at the public range...........

This movie is worth watching if you can find it. Sure, it has some hokey stuff in it, but if you liked the original Predator and you like Women/girl heroes, try it. Hell, the Frenchmen actually wound the predator with their flintlocks!

    The Unconquered

I saw it on the big screen when I was about 4 years old. It marked me forever.

    First time doing woods walk

I understand that these are not actually period or historically correct for the 1700's, but I use them religiously anyway for woods walks, range shooting, and especially a small one for hunting. For woods walks, I usually get about 4-8 shots before I have to clean, because I can't load easily...

    Best Tent Waterproofing

If you recently bought this tent and think you need to waterproof it, do a little research before doing it. If it's a good quality canvas tent, you don't have to do anything to it. I bought a used wedge tent made of an average weight of canvas, and I was skeptical about it being waterproof. I...

Montana muzzleloading season, blaze orange, camouflage

I know this is hard to believe, but over the years I've come across several hunters who were DRUNK.....some a little and some a lot. I think it behooves us to make ourselves more visible to those who might be .....um........overserved.
