I see 1850ish, maybe Ohio or W Va, artificially striped wood. Really inexpensive for a real, rifle. Where would it be located?

kinda hard to see from that angle, but judging by where the scuff was in the brown, I'd say its a big improvement

Allen Box Lock or English Rigby Build

The boxlock action has tangs like a lever gun, but uses a throught bolt from the butt to secure the stock. The top tang would be handy for mounting a tang sight. The forend is interesting because a tenon of wood fits into the fron of the action, but the forend needs secured to the barrel...

Allen Box Lock or English Rigby Build

Are the Pete Allen boxlock actions available? I had one barreled, but changed my mind and sold or traded the action and wood. I much prefer the lines of an English Sporting Rifle whether it be Manton, Purdey, or Rigby.

    New Getz 54 & 62 Barrels - load recommendation/suggestions?

My Colerain .62 - 66 twist likes .605" ball in .015" or thicker patch. 100-120gr fffg or add 20gr ffg Goex. 7-1/2# gun with 2"x5" buttplate and little drop so recoil isn't bad. My suggestion is to use a patch as thick or thicker than the grooves, and then as large diameter ball as you can...

Your lock is making plenty of sparks and putting them right into the pan. If you're going for a removeable liner, the RMC/TC variety are 1/4-28 and should clean up that too low hole just fine. Chambers uses a different thread for his White Lightnng liners and they are available 1/4-32...

    Gun don't shoot

Colerain wasn't even a barrel company until 1990. Is the muzzle and crown square? Pull the breechplug and look down the bore to see if it appears concentric or if you see a shadow. Measure the muzzle and breech walls to see if the barrel was bored off center.

    round or flat faced lock

Looking at the "Southern Rifles" in RCA volume 2, a few have round faced, English style, but most are flat faced, both English (ala Early Ketland) and Germanic. If you're thinking more pre AWI from NC, I would expect a more Germanic looking lock from the Moravians at Bethabara.

    What do I have here?

If you're going to shoot that rifle with .100" vent, you'd better buy some fg so all of your powder doesn't blow out of the vent when loading. fffg will trickle out of .070" and I would never shoot a flintlock with a vent larger than that.

    What do I have here?

5/32 is .160" which is about .100" larger than my quickest ignition flinter. 1/16" in the "sunset potition" would be my recommendation.
