Want to put a Vernier rear sight on a Parker Hale Whitworth

Cannonman 1, Yes to the Pedersoli Vernier Tang sight. There are a couple of things to consider. (1), The base is very thick. That will cause the lowest setting of the tang sight to be higher and will require a higher front sight to regulate to 100yds/meters. With what was contained with the...

Want to put a Vernier rear sight on a Parker Hale Whitworth

Cannonman1, I have the Pedersoli sight base setup on my Navy Arms Parker Hale Whitworth. Maybe this will help. Good luck, Kno-ie

Options for raising the front sight?

Widows Son, I fear you will run out of adjustment on your tang sight to shoot further than 6-700 yards if you choose to use a front sight which is 1.25" tall. On both my Whitworth and Volunteer rifles I changed the as-issued front sights to globe sights without the Pedersoli base extension. I...

    Old eyes going bad

The gun is at a different location for more photos. The gun is a Pedersoli Mortimer Whitworth, .451, 1:20 twist. The scope is a long tube Malcolm. The mounts as sent are terrible for repeatable ranging. For a additional charge you can get a adjustable screw assembly, it's worth it. The optics...

    Zouave Nipple Well

You have a solution at hand. Seller has agreed return your money. It's not worth the loss of blood or injury to some else. I had one that fractured blowing gas out through the bottom of the bolster before I realized it was damaged. All I ever shot out of it was 65grn of 2f with a patched round...

    Swiss Diopter Rear Sight

I have one such rifle and sight. I liked it very much. It does have a limit to elevation with the factory staff. I went to the hardware store and purchased some key-way square stock and made several lengths for higher elevation. I find left to right adjustment suitable for my application. Hope...

    Long Range Shooting Positions

52Bore, Thanks. That is what I was my op was asking. Since this thread was started I found a older list of events at the Nationals with a cross stick event listed. This led me to find this years events which has the cross stick event posted. Fleener, I will be contacting the office for that...

    Long Range Shooting Positions

52Bore & FishDFly, It seems I stand corrected, it was not my original understanding. Please excuse my error. Now I'd like to hear more. Loyalist Dave, that was to be the next position to try. I have read of the position but was not aware it was a legal position. I seen rules state "from prone...

    Long Range Shooting Positions

David, Your reply is very helpful. In this country our NRA provides for a medical waiver for a specific class. It seem as though they have model the MLAGB requirements. The NMLRA however does not, this according to two directors I've talked too. You have given me thought to try as explained for...

    Long Range Shooting Positions

Idaho Ron, Thank you for your reply. I have watched this and many of your other videos. Well done, sir. I've been using cross sticks for a multitude of years from the sitting position, even when I was healthy. What I'm asking is there a allowance for cross stick use in the sitting position at...

    Long Range Shooting Positions

In the ML Long Range events held is there a event/position for sitting and cross stick use? I ask because I'm one of those individuals that due to injury and stroke can no longer shoot from prone or off hand. Still healthy enough sit, stand and load, with a desire to test my skill and rifle with...

    Can anyone interpret this?

Gooddaytoya, I shoot a cylinder paper patched bullet in my Whitworth and have never tried a hexagonal bullet. Here is a target shot a week ago at 100yds. The three marked in red were hang fires. The last four are climbing out of the red center.
