  1. Critter Getter

    Well, now I've done it!

I’m sure that package was just misplaced because it is such a small package! Geez.........on another note Pecatonica has a reputation of underrating their stocks and a cm4 should be a very nice piece of wood from them!! Here is a picture of a cm4 Virginia .45 that I got from them 4 years or so...

    marking ramrod,,,,,,,,,,

I just use a pencil and that was years and years ago! Greg 🤠

Kentucky Rifle compared to Hawken Rifle

I own both styles.......if I could own only one.........it would be a Longrifle!! Greg 🤠

is .54 recoil notably worse than .50?

I must be the odd ball of the bunch.........I really hate recoil and I am a 220 lb. guy.......I can tell a difference between the two but neither is terrible if I don’t get carried away with a heavy powder charge or shooting heavy conicals. Greg 🤠

    Adequacy of .45 Roundball

Nice mass on that deer Skychief! Greg🤠

    Adequacy of .45 Roundball

My flintlock buck was taken at around 50 yards this year with a .45 prb. Base of the neck and he dropped in his tracks........lights out before he hit the ground!! Come to think of it.........that is the longest shot I have ever taken at a deer with a Muzzleloader!!

    Jim Kibler build completed

    Very nice indeed!! Greg 🤠

    Thompson percussion rifles

My QLA barrel loaded easy........ I tried getting prb and Maxi balls to shoot accurately out of it but it would not come close to holding a candle to any of my other great shooting TC’s...........so I sold it!! Greg 🤠

    My Kibler .54

Real nice job finishing that gun! What a keeper! Greg 🤠

    Thompson percussion rifles

I have or have owned a total of at least 8 TC percussion rifles over the last 30 years or so. Only one of those I did not like at all and it had a QLA (?) barrel. I think that is what it was called anyway. I hated that barrel but all the rest of them were or are great shooters for me. I wish TC...

Is a 40 round ball sufficient for deer hunting?

Thank you to Spence for posting the informative history on the popular calibers of past times. Fun read. Also, I loved the story of your rifle and a real nice looking weapon it is. I have no experience with a .40 but having shot many large whitetails with a .45, I can’t imagine that a little...

    KIMBER COLONIAL RIFLE

Thanks for your reply........I have been wanting one of these Kiblers every since Jim came out with it and since I don’t own a .58.................your rifles wood is nicely figured. Is that the normal or the upgraded wood? Greg 🤠

    TARGET IDEA

As a fun shoot during my archery years I would glue Lifesavers on a piece of white paper and draw a heavy black circle around them but leaving the Lifesaver off center in the circle. That made hitting the Lifesaver more difficult to hit but when it they would explode violently. It would be a fun...

    KIMBER COLONIAL RIFLE

That rifle and your shooting are both exceptional. I assume that was shot from a bench. How does it hold and group off hand? Congrats on a fine sweet shooter!! Greg

    Dumb question about powder horns

My adjustable powder measurer has a funnel attached to it so that is what I use. Greg

    .50 vs .45

Yes, the rifles I use to shoot prb and Maxi Ball and Maxi Hunter are .45 caliber TC Hawken with a 48” twist. They shoot the prb very accurate and the conicals are plenty accurate for the hunting I do!! Greg 🤠
  18. Critter Getter

    .50 vs .45

I have taken all my Iowa Whitetails with either .45 ( prb, Maxi Hunter, or Maxi Ball and a .50 ( prb). I have never shot a hog. I really like my .45’s as they can be loaded down with a prb or loaded up heavier with a conical. A very “do it all” caliber. Greg 🤠

    Kibler SMR kit

That is a rifle and a job you can be proud of for sure!! Very nice! Greg
