    Locking a vehicle in the Arctic was not wise. It would likely freeze up and have to be thawed. I don't ever remember locking anything up there.

    Climbing towers in Summer had its own challenges when the bears decided they wanted to climb.

    Not all fun and games, climbing towers at -40 forty to align MW dishes, was just part of the job.

    You always looked out the window of the camp door before charging out. We always had grizzly bears looking for food in the dumpsters. Fish and Wildlife would tag and haul them 75 miles South into the Brooks range. I don't think it took them long to get back.

    Huge flocks of geese would show up to nest long before the snow and ice was gone.

    Prudhoe Bay was a nesting ground for many Ducks, Geese and Swans.

    Lots of caribou, many times I walked out of our office to have the building surrounded by a couple hundred. Easy getting close up shots with a camera. No hunting within 5 miles of the Pipeline.

    That is in the Village of Kaktovik with plenty of bears when whaling season is in full swing.

    Before retiring to a golf course in Nevada, I spent 37 years working in Alaska. Last 25 in Prudhoe Bay, Arctic villages and oilfields. I took thousands of pictures of wildlife. The Arctic villages was special and dangerous. Getting chased by a polar bear was a photographer friends favorite pastime.
