    I always apply it straight. Usually several coats. If it looks too dark, you can rub it back with 0000 steel wool or a maroon scotchbrite pad.

    Installing tips on wooden ramrods...........

    I use a pipe cutter, whittle it a little, then chuck the tip in a drill and spin it on the rod. Quick and easy. Epoxy then pin.

    Ballistol.............

    I also mix it 4 parts water to 1 part Ballistol for cleaning and patch lube. Been using it for years. Use it undiluted for rust protection after cleaning.
