    New Gun Owner

Your going to get lots of suggestions, here is just one. Liberally apply lube to the arbor right before shooting. I use bore butter for this. There are lots of choices for lube, just use non-petroleum lube. It’ll keep your cylinder rotating smoothly while shooting many many rounds. And as far as...

    Black powder

You might have to drive to Orlando. Buffalo Bills Shooting Store. They keep powder and caps in stock. Call first though before you head out.

TC Hawken with vernier styled tang and globe front.

Trying to keep my comments about a similar gun for sale here off the sellers post as a courtesy, but still just want to say that the TC Hawken with the vernier tang and front globe look so cool. I put blued plug screws where the original rear sight was, there are two screw holes. My point...

Cost of shooting muzzleloading shotguns for me.

Bass pro/Cabelas in Tampa hasn’t had bags of shot in stock for a couple/few years. Also, the Lawrence chilled lead shot is a little more expensive than other shot that is hardened with antimony, anywhere you can find it.

SOLD Best Fit & Finish of Any Mass Produced Muzzleloader

Dang if that ain’t the Bobbsey Twin of mine. Manufactured mid 1970’s. You will really enjoy shooting that rifle with the tang sights, they work really well with the post insert for hunting or variable light conditions. Circular inserts work really well at the range. My apologies to the OP and...

Cost of shooting muzzleloading shotguns for me.

I missed an obvious clue though, having about 4 pounds of shot in a flask around my neck to start out my journey through the sporting clay courses needed refilling more than an I originally expected.

I guess what really caught me by surprise was how fast 25 pounds of shot was going to go.

Cost of shooting muzzleloading shotguns for me.

Just paid $155.00 for 50 pounds of 7.5 Lawrence chilled shot. Comes to about $3.10 per pound. About 16 shots per pound (I spill a little). So, it cost me about 20 cents per shot, for shot. I bought my first 25 pound bag not that long ago thinking it would last a long time. Haha. Lesson learned...

    Chambers, thanks.

    Powder horn or flask ?

I think that once you get to loading 6 cylinders, you will like that handiness of the flask vs a horn.

Pedersoli 20 gauge flintlock double shotgun

Oh, and I didn’t have any issues with the locks. Flints strike high on both frizzens, but ignition was Quick Without any excessive damage to my flints.

Pedersoli 20 gauge flintlock double shotgun

Well, took out the 20 gauge flintlock side by side today for some shooting at a sporting clay course in Lakeland Fl. I found out quickly that my circle fly over shot cards are too small for my gun. I could not get a good vacuum seal and pellets would roll out if barrel was turned down. So...

Pedersoli 20 gauge flintlock double shotgun

Rock Home, Funny, you mention lock tuning. I’m not really happy with the lock geometry on this gun. Left side frizzen spring is longer and has a slightly different bend than the right hand side. Flints are going strike high on both frizzens as well. Taking it out tomorrow and will see how the...
