    Price thoughts on a little .32? {Update Pg. 2)

ayup - all that "perceived value" stuff ... the price agreed upon between the willing buyer and the willing seller... (i though it to be a bit high, but not wholly unreasonable)

    Kibler SMR Arrived Today

still working on mine ... dropped some coin on an ash stock ... kinda spendy but really pretty :)

How do you store your flints?

i just have mine in an old take- out soup container... mixed together in the dark ... i was kinda hoping that they'd get frisky and maybe make more flints, but so far no luck ... either the gestation time is very long, or i need to play some mood music

    welcome from southeastern Vermont!

    Greetings from Ireland

welcome from SouthEastern Vermont. I'm mostly Irish, but some Scot and a bit of Wales is in there, too. I'm pretty sure my Mom's people were from around Derry. i like flintlocks and Bushmills (but not at the same time, of course)

    What are your excuses please.

ok ... how many months ago was your last ML purchase (that she knows about ... secret stuff doesn't go into the equation) ... take that number of weeks ... this is the gestational period of the average ML (I assume you're talking about a long gun - rifle, smooth rifle, musket or shotgun. etc. -...

Thompson Center Muzzleloaders Pros & Cons

i bought a T/C Renegade used flint in (i think it was about) 1983 ... remarkably, it was well cared for and still shoots better than i can aim it ... i'm building a few more franken guns ... one a .62 smooth using a sewer pipe barrel which Bobby Hoyt bores out, and one a .54 perc. solid...

    vacu-sealing BP

as a practical matter, i don't think you would gain very much by sealing your powder this way, but i don't see the harm. I leave mine in the cans in the basement and it still works fine.

    Fitting barrel question

i like both solutions... by the way, you're not asking for directions, you're exploring the various options, so no points off your man card.

    Good barrel or tomato stake?

that's not something that i would want getting out of my shop. mention was made of colerain, but no stamp ... this is suspect, to be polite about it ... you probably paid about half of the average working man's take- home pay for this, so i'd get pretty stiff with the cust service people if...

True Craftsman, Scratch Builders and Extreme Tinkerers.....Check Out My Wood.

i'm a big fan of The Gunsmith of Grenville County. It's a bit pricey, but what you spend on the book will more than compensate for parts you don't ruin (as well as time you won't spend in purgatory for the bad language you won't use) ... i like, also, that it's spiral bound, so it will lay flat...

    Thompson Center Hawken question

i agree. Paying $500 for a decent T/C is probably a pretty fair investment. if properly cares for, this rifle will last several generations, and can provide surprising accuracy.

Round ball and 50 grains in a 50 cal. for whitetail ?

i would go with the most accurate load the rifle shoots at the range you anticipate. most muzzleloaders will shoot amazing groups if properly loaded. 50 grains sound a bit light, but i'd certainly not want to stand in front of one. check out the late Dutch Schoultz method. here's a link...
