    Percussion Caps

I've noticed that even with the same brand, some packs just fit a tiny bit tighter and don't easily fit all the way on. But still, even when the nipple is dirty and the caps only go halfway on, I've never had one fail on a gun with a properly strong spring. Related to that, is your spring...

    CCI #11 percussion caps found

Wow, and powder right out on the shelves. It took me a year to find P. Though you'd think if they stock Pyrodex they'd be selling magnum caps instead. (Well, one of mine is ok with regulars and Pyrodex) I was lucky enough to find 4 tins of regular at Walmart and plenty of magnums at SW a...

    Muzzleloaders and firearm laws

Mine has one. That's how I know it was made in 1879.

Is it uncool to use Pyrodex?

I have one with a patent breech that's pretty much a straight spark path, and it can light 2F Pyrodex using CCI regulars with only tiny hangfires once out of every five or ten. My other one which is drum-style was getting about 2/5 misfires, 2/5 bad hangfires, and 1/5 either tiny hangfires or...

    .390 Swaged Round Balls?

I wish I could find real 390s too. My Lee 390 mold cast them at about 394 no matter what my temperature was. They're actually 001 bigger than the ones from my lyman 395 mold. Bought two packs of the "389" balls from track, and it turned out they were only 389 if measured from one specific...

Is it uncool to use Pyrodex?

Pyrodex doesn't smell as nice, is harder to clean, and requires magnum caps in some rifles to avoid hangfires, but works well enough that I won my last match with it. What some people are missing in their "You're all just lazy if you can't manage to get holy black" snobbery seem to be missing...

    CCI #11 percussion caps found

There are probably thousands of legit, industry-leading sites I've never heard of. I didn't know about Trackofthewolf until a year ago. But it does seem suspicious that a site could have 38 cases of caps in stock and almost every type of primer, while their prices are lower than average store...

    CCI #11 percussion caps found

I saw that, but I also saw that there are other sites selling them for cheaper. But I've never heard of the other sites so I'm not sure how trustworthy they are. Sites like outdoorammory or tacticalfirearmsandarchery.

    Inflation jacking prices up

Must be that Common Core math.

Yeah, I Used To Shoot 'em

Cleaning my flintlock, even with removing/cleaning the lock and using a flush hose, is a whole lot faster than trying to get all the copper fouling out of some of my old-but-not-antique milsurps. The only downside is I can't put it off for a few days.

Please explain any reasons pedesoli's frontier and blue ridge have such price differences.

I never understood why the maple "deluxe" is $500 more. For a patchbox, endcap, and a different wood.

    Excuse Me, I'm Loading

My nearest club has a switch that you hit to trigger an alarm to let everyone know you're going downrange. Usually people ask if it's ok with everybody, but for some reason when I'm shooting a muzzleloader, more than once I've had people hit the switch and start walking downrange and I've had...

    Long Rifle Cases

Does anybody know if they still do other colors? Not everything needs to be tacticool black. I tried their web contact and got no reply.

I've heard that's about the best place for shotgun, didn't realize they had a rifle range, or that they were that expensive.

That's the group I've heard of. They seem to meet all over the place.

Then I wonder if we've met. I'm there sunday or tuesday afternoons almost every week when it's not freezing.

Yes. I joined three years ago simply because it's closest. It's okay though I wish the roof and the windows in the wall were higher so I could practice standing and not always hit my ramrod on the ceiling.

Closest yet. I live about on the Gates/Chili/Ogden border, and drive through North Chili (always thought it should be West Chili) to go to the range.

    Greetings from Rochester NY

Hope to see you around some time. Are you with a club? I'm usually at Four Point because they're closest, but just got the info about "Alabama" in Batavia so I'll probably check them out on Sunday.

He also did a heck of a job packaging it. Took me almost half an hour to open! I was surprised nobody else bid. Maybe because it's not a popular caliber, or people prefer the traditional violin color, or because most shooters are panicking to spend their money on "unmentionables" while they...
