    Sharps Butt Plate Question

DeerStalkerT - The length of pull currently is 15, but I'll shorten it an inch. Still, it doesn't look like the butt plate will be much smaller than now - 5.25"x1.63". That would be great if you've got something. I think Track has one for $20, but it's the smaller version for the carbine, plus...

    Sharps Butt Plate Question

How many coffins could Phil fill if Phil filled coffins? ;) I've been in touch with Shiloh, but have had difficulty getting data from Lucinda. Guess I need to persist.

    Sharps Butt Plate Question

I did find the one at Dixie, but unfortunately, it's for the carbine, or that style - the butt plate is much shorter and narrower than the sporting rifle. I also realized that with the highly figured curly black walnut, I hate to cover up any of that beautiful wood. So no patchbox. It's going...

    10-28 and 12-28 Screws

Good suggestion, Swab! I've done that in the past with 10-32 allen bolts. Let's see if I can find them in 10 or 12-28.

SOLD COLT 1851 NAVY 2NG GEN SQUAREBACK TRIGGER GUARD.

BPWarrior - classified rules require a slip of paper in the photo with your screen name and date. If I didn't already have one of these I'd be thinking about getting yours.

    Sharps Butt Plate Question

I've got a 63 Sharps sporter that came as a kit minus stocks. The original owner cut a piece of flat steel and screwed it to the butt. It's been that way for thirty or forty years as far as I can tell. Time to make it right! So... What sort of butt plate would be proper for this old girl? I'm...

    10-28 and 12-28 Screws

Swab - thank you! You're right - that is the name for a slotted pan head. :) Bill - ebay has a few, but they're too short and five or six bucks each. McMaster Carr didn't have any that I can find. And Brownells wants to send me text messages (forget THAT!) and routes me directly to that...

    10-28 and 12-28 Screws

Hardware stores don't have any, and even the specialty hardware store here in town that is the go-to when the others don't have it, don't have any either. Is there a source for these odd ball screws? 10-24, 10-32, 12-24 and 12-32 are available but not 28 tpi. I finally decided the only...

    Gunstock Blanks

From what I've heard from guys who work wood, it's best to air dry before any sort of shaping. And seal the end grain or the ends will split.

    Ubertti 48 Walker Questions

You could shoot the Walker straight out of the box, and a lot of guys do. But where you'll get into trouble is heavy loads. That will stress the gun if the arbor issue hasn't been addressed. The barrel is attached to the frame at two points - the lower lug and the arbor. The wedge forces the...

Oh dear, this is not MY Canada......

Aw, blaming it on the democrats is too easy. There are many factors, like the dumming down of the education system so people can't think. They're fearful and easily maneuvered because they don't see the illogic in "guns kill", They don't comprehend that the bad guys running the show actually PDH...

    Powder and mice?

I think you missed the point - the clerk was more like Hawkeye on Mash. More into having fun, joking and practical jokes.

That's a monumental project! I can see why you're happy to be on the finishing stages of this project.

    Western Arms Corp. 1860 Army

A little perspective here - a junker can go for a hundred bucks. Someone recently sold the frame for $75. I bought a ten year old Pietta 1860 44 that needed a lot of help but looked ok for $100. So getting a nicely done Uberti for $130 is a helluva deal.

I Told a Big, Fat Lie a Couple of Weeks Ago

It's ok to change your mind. Nothing wrong with that. I lost a motorcycle and several months in bed to an elk, and crumpled fenders to deer - it's better to thin them out your way.

    Western Arms Corp. 1860 Army

I see your point, Rich. There have been times buyers have given me more than I asked for and it felt pretty good. And when I've had plenty of money I didn't dicker to get the best price if it was already fair. On the other hand - there are times when you're just at the right place at the right...

Did you get a good deal??? o_O And here I thought I had beginner's luck! Although, I usually tend to overpay getting into a new hobby - the great deals come later. You SUCK!!!

Guess I won't be ever moving to Washington! And here I thought it was bad in Oregon. Wow. Just wow
