I'm making the simplified 1863 version....

First black powder rifle, headed to the range.

So another "Newbie" question. I have made rolled cartridges twice now. The first time while waiting for things to finish drying and what not while I was building the rifle, and again today. The first 25 rounds I rolled I pan lubed the rounds. Today I "hot dipped" the rounds. I defiantly like...

I watched his comparison of two 2 band "Enfield's" today. He does provide a prospective of to expect. I guess I need to take into account that we are shooting "iron" sights and not scopes. His explanation of powder charges, for me is pretty insightful.

    What did you do today

Rolled 50 cartridges for the Enfield.

Agreed, I've watched Hickok45 as well, Capandball.eu seems legit. I should look up more of his stuff.

I've watched a number of his videos. Very informative.

If I could find a V11 that hadn't been mucked with, I'd buy it. I do like the Griso in white too, just saying!

Thank GOD! LOL! There are not a lot of the Stelvios here in the states. Apparently the WHOLE production run was something like 6,400. There are a couple of forums for Moto Guzzi, and a couple threads for the Stelvio, but by far the largest is the one on Adventure Rider. Typically I get two...

First black powder rifle, headed to the range.

Last week before going out for the first time I had no idea what to expect as to accuracy or what not. Part of the intrigue about the whole process of owning and shooting a black powder rifle was everything associated with it. From casting bullets, rolling cartridges, adjusting powder load...

So, 2F or 3F? Figuring 5 LBS is minimum order I'd like to try what seems to work the best. Or would that question be like starting an Oil thread on the Moto Guzzi forum?

First black powder rifle, headed to the range.

You two are scaring me! I did powder the barrel again, which I guess I should have done after my first glass bedding. There was improvement to be had at the plug end of the stock so I did some touch up there. Hope to get out the later part of the week and try it out. I also fiddled with...

First black powder rifle, headed to the range.

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I am trying diligently to come up with some real black powder but to no avail, at least locally. I will need to do something soon as I only have a little over a LB of Pyrodex FFG. About the position of the sun. I'm shooting early morning and it's at my 7:00 and...

First black powder rifle, headed to the range.

When I built the kit I did "bed" the barrel. While that was the first time I had ever done it, it may pay for me to revisit it. And I will resist attempting any sight modifications until I get a few more trips to the range. What about the fact I have to aim 8" below the center of the target at...

First black powder rifle, headed to the range.

No doubt! I can not find anything at all locally. I drove 125 miles for this lot. I'm still looking, hoping someone local will come up with something better, and i don't have to pay "hazmat".

Good deal, I'll go back to the volume measurements on the powder measure and leave the scale to weigh bullets. Thanks for the input!

First black powder rifle, headed to the range.

Now for the $64 question. As you can see in both of my targets I am hitting to the right. I am also aiming about 8" below the center of the target. I would like to adjust my sight(s) but I do not believe there is much I can do short of filing. If anyone has experience with the sights on the...
