    Pietta New Army .44

My powder flask spout measures 25grs. of 3F so it's very easy to use that as my starting load. I may increase that charge after I shoot some targets.

They are in my dry box. Forgot to put them in the photo. Remington #10 from Cabelas, $12.99 per tin. Good eye.

    Pietta New Army .44

Finally got all of my components to shoot my new Pietta. Hopefully I can get to the range this weekend. Will be using 25grs of OE 3F and .454" Hornady balls.

Uberti vs Pietta, Not the same old, same old.....This could be news.

Just bought a Pietta 1858 Army today after reading this and other threads on these pistols. #11 caps seem a little loose. I will try some #10 caps this week.

Hawken from #11 nipple to musket caps...

I use a musket nipple on my Investarms Hawken. I shoot RWS and Schuetzen caps. No problem with hammer alignment.

    Black powder shortage

50 pounds is a lot, should have put a 4 pound limit. That's just my opinion. My LGS has limits on ammo purchases.

    Goex powder @ Buffalo Arms

Grafs is sold out of 3f now. Wonder how many pounds they sold in the past 24 hours. Grafs

    Goex powder @ Buffalo Arms

OE is $27.19 per pound at Grafs. It was $21.79 in 2019.

If you were switching powder from Goex, what to....?

I would like to try Swiss 3f. Been using Goex and O.E. all along.

How much powder do you keep?

2 years worth of shooting. I will buy 2 pounds of Swiss whenever that becomes available at Friendship IN or at Grafs.

What is about a Hawken Rifle

I love shooting my $300 Investarms Hawken. It doesn't say St. Louis on the Barrel but it's a shooter, not a safe queen.

    Caps

Paid $11.50 for 100 Schutzen 4 wing caps at my gun store.

Swiss 3F in .50 cal rifles

I just finished shooting the NMLRA Postal Match with my .50 Investarms Hawken. I used 60 grs of Olde Eynsford 3f at 25 and 50 yards, then 70 grs at 100 yards. I have some 2f but am only using 3f for now. I use a .018" ticking patch and musket caps. I need more range time to get better groups...

    NMLRA Postal Match

After shooting the 4 targets, I need much more practice. Anyways, it was fun and very challenging to hit the bear at 100 yards from the offhand position.

    NMLRA Postal Match

I received for my targets for this match. This is my first time with the Postal Match. Shooting crow at 25 yds, fox and deer at 50 yds, and bear at 100 yds. Will be interesting to see if I even hit the target at 100 yds with my Hawken. Postal Match

First shots from Hawken this year.

In the Columbus area. I visited one of the Indiana NMLRA events in 2019. I shot my first Kentucky Long Rifle when I was about 17. Just recently took up shooting muzzleloaders with my Hawkens.

First shots from Hawken this year.

I will try 60 and 65 grs of Olde Eynsford tomorrow at the range. Supposed to sunny and 71.

    2f vs 3f

I am using Olde Eynsford 3F in my .50 Hawken right now. Then I'm going to try different charges of O.E. 2F. Want to see if there is any difference in accuracy.
