Recommended revolver parts to upgrade or have as spares?

Pietta sells parts kits containing all the screws you will need if you bugger them up or lose them. I would also suggest buying each and every spring the gun uses. Hammer cams are essentially part of the hammer so buy an extra hammer, and bolt legs wear/break so pick up a spare bolt as well. Be...

    Rogers & Spencer

Never done a R&S kit, though I have built kit revolvers and I do own an R&S...which is similar in theory to the Remington but the way the grip frame/TG go together is quite a bit different. Still, it shouldn't be much more difficult once you figure it out.

Dickydalton's Robert. E. Lee Commemorative Custom

This is one of the reasons I say Mike is the 'best'. I've sent him 3 guns so far, and while none of them were showstoppers to begin with, they handle and operate like no other guns in my collection, even some of the NIB unfired ones.

Does anyone make/sell something like a snap cap cone to dry fire a revolver?

You're right. I wasn't paying attention, as the aquarium tubing works just fine for me. And stop shouting. “I hate rude behavior in a man. I won’t tolerate it.”-Cap't Woodrow Call

Does anyone make/sell something like a snap cap cone to dry fire a revolver?

Problem with this method is with each hammer drop you can shove a tiny bit of foam down in the flash hole. Which can mess up your next trip to the range.

I use the aquarium tubing and it works quite well.

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

I get that totally, and agree with your assessment. That being said, unmentionables would be the wise approach in such a situation. C&B revolvers occasionally failed to fire back in the good ol' days, and I've experienced several F2F situations at the range due to bad caps, fouled nipples, caps...

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

Why would you do that? Even Hickok took turns firing each of his 1851 Navy Colts every other day, so he could keep them clean and operational, and also to keep him in constant practice. Word is, he only shot one at a time so he was never without a loaded Navy close at hand. In this day and age...

    new 3rd dragoon

No. They are different, and they feel different. In addition to my Walker I have a pair of 2nd Dragoons and a 1st Dragoon. The 'Goons all feel alike; fatter in the hand and shorter in length. The Walker is more slim and longer.

$30 For Remington #10s The New Normal?

I often wonder if these a$$hats that are scalping for $30.00 a hundred are paying the required hazmat fees when shipping? My guess is...no. Those are some serious penalties if not.

    Lifespan of a Rifle?

How long? If it was cleaned and taken care of, longer than most peoples' lifespans... In fact, there are plenty of multi-generational firearms still in use. Most Europeans are not able to own modern repros; only originals. Let that sink in a minute.

    1858 grip

I've learned to do the 'pinky curl', which helps somewhat. There was a guy making a replacement trigger guard that moved the loop forward a quarter inch or so, I believe his name was Brad Potter, on the 1858 Remington forum...which is now defunct...but he dropped off the radar quite some time ago.
