Finally got the opportunity to shoot my Crocket Squirrel Rifle…..

Sorry, my aluminum ram rod is black so I just assumed the brown rod was wood. It has been raining all day today, so I spent some time trying to improve my ram rod. I usually use a range rod when I shoot at the club but wanted to leave it behind in the woods. I usually swab between shots and the...

I see you have a wooden ram rod, where did you get it or did or did it come with the gun?

    Squirrel Dogs

I loved your story in a sad sort of way. I had to put down my bird dog 3 years ago, he was the best friend I ever had! Strangely enough, I have also moved on to a cat.

    LOVE My Crockett!!!

Thanks for the reply! I got to thinking, when I buy something new (this time a Crockett)I buy things to go with it. After digging through my stuff I found two nipples that you listed. I had been using the nipple that come with the gun not realizing the replacements were bigger on the cap end. I...

    LOVE My Crockett!!!

Do you remember which nipple size you purchased, my gun doesn't hold caps very well either. I liked your possible bag too, is it one from the October Country?

    LOVE My Crockett!!!

What load do you use? I love my Crockett but I haven't come up with a load that gives me the accuracy I think the gun is capable of.

    Big Sky Rambler

I just received my second gun from Big Sky Rambler. I'm very happy with the gun. It's better than his ad suggested and come very well packaged. The shipping people would really have to go out of the way to damage the gun because it is so well packed. Stub

    Leather sources

I have used hobby lobby leather the most, but when I made a couple of knife sheaths and the knives rusted. They were throwing knives that I didn't use much and they rusted terribly in storage. I must be using leather that's not had the right tanning process.

I am home now and want to thank everyone for their responses, I will check over recommendations tomorrow. Earlier I was asked what I want to make. I don't have a project lined up, I just make small items as I need them. The largest things so far have been shooting bags for each of my guns. I'm...

    Leather sources

I know there are lots of places that sell leather on line. But like with any other products some businesses are better to work with than others. I just wanted a recommendation from someone on the forum that had good experiences with a company.

    Leather sources

When we travel down state to the "big city" I have been trying to purchase leather at craft shops with no luck. I don't find much but over priced scraps that are too small for much of any project. Where are some good online sources for leather? Thanks, Stub
